What the hell was that??

I cannot believe how fast that car was. Can someone please tell me what I just watched? That car sounded like a V8 on Nitrous.

Does someone in this forum know Alex (who owns the turbo on this link)? I forgot his last name but they mention it a few times.

Great video. Thanks for sharing!

Do a search for VRAlexander, that 996TT is something else, it was originally built by Protomotive then I think they had a falling out and he's elsewhere now. Looked like the 997 put it brakes on when it went by, I'm surpised at the start it got on him with street tyres, maybe VR's start wasn't too good. Great Video, thanks for posting it.

Holy ***** that was wild! Thanks!

This was all I could find on him -

His name is Alexander Carmeski and he worked at the University of Arizona in their Virtual Reality (VRAlexander) simulation laboratory in the mid 90's. During the dot-com bubble he sold the idea to Nintendo designer Gunpei Yokoi for $23 million, and it later became the short lived Virtual Boy.

He has a couple of posts on the Hennessey Viper site but is not giving any of his secrets away.

I have NEVER seen anything like that before in my life....

He passed the TechArt turbo at the big end like it was standing still! Looked to me like a 300HP nitrous shot.

My only complaint is the event was held at night. How freakin stupid is that?

I know! I was watching it on Speed Tuesday and couldn't believe my eyes, drove 20 minutes to my brother's house, how T-Voed it just to watch the end again. Un Friggin believeable. Think you are right about the NOS, but then how much was he sand-bagging on the other races??? Could not agree with you more about the night thing - how retarted is that!!!! As I was watching it, I wondered if they did it at night because most of the cars were boosted and wanted to show the flames from the BOV's but if that was why they did it, it didn't work out as well as they hoped..... at least in my opion. Still, it was an amazing display of HP, engineering and driving - gotta give them that.

WICKED!!

This just sold me on how AWSOME of a car the 996tt is and for the price you can buy them now used, WOW. I think I need to sell off a few things.

I get lost on an auto-x course in broad daylight running 60mph. What they were doing is just insane! Besides the fact that the spectators (us) couldn't see anything with the night vision camera. Just seemed od ...
Hats off to the driving skills though. That Viper was a real handfull.
