Show me your transmission cooler setup

OK, rather than me try to figure it out from scratch - what have you done to install a cooler in your 930 on your 930 box?

I've got the Tilton pump - thanks PurpleHaze - and now I've just got to figure out the best place to mount the pump, the cooler, route the lines, etc.

So if you've done it, I'd like to see it:
1. Where did you mount the pump?
2. Cooler mount point?
3. What size lines?
4. Did you pull fluid out of the drain plug area of the tranny? and where did you pump it back in?
5. Did you use an external tank to hold more fluid to compensate for the fluid required to fill up the lines/cooler/etc.

Any other info you've got, I'd like to hear...
(BTW I did a search, but didn't really find what I wanted to see)

Thanks,

Brian

The first shows the top fill plug fitting were it runs back in. The fitting coming out the side of all the fittings crap is the trans temp sender which is going to be moved down to the bottom drain plug fitting between the tranny and the cooler or i am going to tap it into the
case.
The second shows the areas i tapped the plugs, the hoses are there to keep all from spilling out.

Did you observe higher than acceptible transmission temps? I was about to order the same pump and bits from Summit and spoke to my local shop looking for the 2 20 (22?) mm adapter fittings needed to plumb the lines into the fill and drain ports. They (Nathan) stated he had rarely seen issues with G50 transmission temps on anything short of endurance races. I was surprised at this as EC track temps regularly hit 45 deg celcius and it can be damn hot out there. However he talked me out of adding the complexity and weight without seeing truely high temps. I was very wary of not adding the cooler (to the $12,000 transmission!) but he convinced me to observe the data first.

Have you been seeing high temps and if so under what circumstances?

thanks

Well as you see mine is a 901 trying to hold back that engine, spray bars over the gear sets and bearings on these transmissions are the way to go. in your guys cases, using 930 or g50 transmissions, unless your racing i doubt you really would need one. I think my cooler is a fluidyne, the pump is a Tilton.
I plumbed mine in because i had the stuff laying around to do it, and have too much time on my hands. I am hoping that the cooler will buy my 901 a little time, but adding the spray bars is something i need to do to finish it off right like in this picture from Patrickmotorsports.

Patrick did mine. Shortened G50, Guard 80 LSD. 450 RWHP is the goal...have you measured temps? PR Tech says they have to work really hard on Eastern Creek to see more than 200F...

Question

iamchappy,
For the trans cooler, did you use an oil pump? If not then is the trans oil presserized to the trans cooler? Not sure how this system works without an oil pump. Thanks for any info.
