How to install 964 turbo (965) intercooler on a 930
 

Hello to you all.

I'm new to the forum, but I can see this is the place to be.

I'm just finishing a rebuild on my 1980 3.3 and I have no idea what parts I need and what I have to do to fit a 964 turbo intercooler to my rebuilt engine. Can anyone help?

Anyone got a list of parts needed for the install?

A basic list:
-965 (964 C2 Turbo) intercooler
-965 CIS induction hose/elbow
-965 style turbo to intercooler boost pipe, or make your own
-compressor by-pass valve - lots of options here. I'm using a Hyperboost valve, but Forge makes a good one, and some prefer to run the plastic Bosch unit. Also known as a diverter valve and a blow-off valve.
-brackets to hold it all in place.
-you will also need a pipe to connect the CIS induction hose to the turbo charger intake pipe. When you remove the large factory BOV housing, the piece of pipe that normaly does this job gets automatically removed as it's part of the housing.

Obviously you'll need some vacuum hose to connect your BOV (the nipple on top) to a vacuum source. I connected mine to the "T" on the throttle body. I used some good quality silicone hose, I think it was 4 mm diameter.

And you'll need some much larger diameter hose for the BOV vent that connects to the front of the intercooler (front as in reaching toward the front of the car). This is got be at least an 1" in diameter...maybe slightly more.

Some various plugs to block off any smog related equipment ports that you might no longer be running.

Most important line to get right is the wastegate actuation line on the driver side of the intercooler! Bad things happen is this isn't hooked up!
