Is 2 turbos too much?

I looked at an 86 turbo today and if all goes well with the PPI tomorrow, I'll have it in my garage later in the day. It has 95k, but the tranny and motor was rebuilt 8k-10k ago and then new P&Cs installed @ 800 miles ago to make it a 3.4. It had a bigger turbo, which I figure is probably a k27, and a tall intercooler, lsd. The interior is dirty, but can be cleaned up and the Recaros will need to be recovered. Any idea what kind of steering wheel this could be?

This one drives differently than my 79 as the clutch is lighter, the shifter takes less effort and it is louder because of the dual exhausts. Am I crazy to buy another turbo?

It's a Special Wishes 930 steering wheel, circa mid '80's. And yes, you are crazy.

It's got those special seats with the switches on, i really sound like i know what i'm talking about don't I

I think this car definitely takes the crown of the most neglected interior ever, if i met the previous owner i'd have to give him a slap
And maybe some soap!!

Wow I thought my work trucks were dirty!
IMHO ditch that wheel and go with a 930s, or better yet have it recovered in Alcantara.

Hey JBL930 you definitely sound like you know what you are talking to compared to this guy....

Yeah.. What Werk-I said...

- its the Special Wishes 930 wheel... some actually called them 930S wheels back in the day..
I have one in my 78 as well as the same seats... they are Recaro Model "C".

If you get the car and want to get rid of the seats or the wheel... "I'll take' em!"

As far as the original question, Ha!.. I'm probably the last person to ask.. read my signature line!

Srsly!

Comic Book Guy seyz: _DIRTIEST_INTERIOR_EVER_!!!

WTF?

I'd be skeptical of what 'else' on the rest of the car was neglected as such. Paging Dr. Massengill!!! Pass the Salt & Vinegar please.

8-)

Hopefully you're getting if for a song. It's rare that I've seen an interior *that* grimy. Like a mechanic's car or something (no offense to mechanics!).

Grody.

And... yes... you're crazy. Not that there's anything wrong with that heh heh. What's funniest to me is having a pair of 930's... on an island! Where oh where to exercise???

All kidding aside, good luck tho - report back.

Here's what the rest of the interior looks like. I pickup the car tomorrow morning. I looked at the receipts and the car has B&B intercooler/headers/exhaust, K29 turbo, sc cams, lsd, euro fuel system ... The header will be coming out as some welds are cracking, and I'm going to do some work on the intercooler. The steering wheel will come off as I have a new Prototipo to put on and then a whole bunch of elbow grease in cleaning up the interior. I may buy some sport seats to replace the full boat Recarso, if I can find a nice set.

Borrat says: Very NICE!
That sounds like a hell of a car even if you have another.

I'll try and cleanup the car before I take pics. As krasuskyp said, it is grody! Actually, the dash and door tops are faded so I'll have them re-dyed. The steering wheel is full of grime so most of it should come off, The same with the seats.

Here's the kicker, the car was $20k.

I think three 930 Turbos has a better ring to it. A 1977, 1979 and a 1986. Your just about there. Congrats.

Bryan,

Congrats! Since the 79 is relatively stock/conservative and in beautiful condition, you can then use this 86 to go in another not so conservative direction. I have heard a few 930s popping up around the island that were stored over the years and up for sale. I am sure Gerard and the gang made sure it was in top mechanical shape before picking it up...score!

There's some work to be done. There is an oil leak that will be taken care of and the B&B header has a crack at the weld. Surprise, surprise! lol Then he's going to mod the intercooler, and get the ac up and running. I may redo these seats, or a set of seats out of a Carrera. I may also put a RSR 3.8 tail on the car.

Who drives a wheel like that? Mine is grose to me and that looks like someone went to the trouble to bend over so as to wipe a butt on it. I mean, it's called wet wipes now and then. Crying out loud!

I used leather cleaner and most of the guck came off, but so did some of the dye. I cleaned areas of the seats, dash and door panels to see how they would clean up. They do get the dirt out, but like the steering wheel, so does some dye. I may just send the car to the upholsterers to get the dash and door tops dyed. As for seats, a friend has offered me some Carrera seats that need to be redone so that is a possibility, or re-doing the big, cushy Recaros.

Just as well as it looked like the colors seemed to fade from one another. That car will be super nice though when done.

Did you find any doobage? Perhaps a roach clip or two? That "guck" might have been bong water! Look for empty Dorito bags and 8-track tapes from Foghat, Deep Purple, and Blue Oyster Cult.
