Video: Road Atlanta DE in Trippy Twin Turbo

Peachstate DE on June 7, 2008 Shaking down the new to me GT1R car. Car has phenomenal stick and I need to get used to the cornering ability. This was a DE with required point bys and only on the straights, so I couldn't totally wring her out. Unfortunately the engine sustained some damage Saturday afternoon and she is being torn down for refresh.

Clever, nice vid! Very sweet. Engine sounded great... what happened? I know you had some overboost on the dyno.

Initial diagnosis is that it was lean on 4,5, &6...awaiting tear down to see how extensive the damage is...I was hoping (and it sounded like) that I had only broken a rocker arm, but that is not the case.

That really sucks. Just curious as why certain cylinders would go lean? Injector issue? Fuel pressure? Do your engine guys have any hypotheses as to what happened? Also, what made you want to sell it? Sorry you gotta sell it. Hey, even with all that mojo, it's still not a 934, right? You'll have a ton of fun finishing up and tracking your replica project.

All of the above are possible, plus we did not have the injectors on for decel which helps cool the heads not to mention throw fireballs. We also did not tune each side of the motor which was shortsighted on our part, we were only picking up one bank of cylinders with the wideband...won't make that mistake again.

Just watched your video...wow, does your car grip! And you were not even at a limit! Amazing.
Bummer to hear about your engine though.

Awesome GT1 car. Are you also listing it in the porsche club mag? Seems like you would get better money for it there vs. Ebay. Price seems a bit too low for a car of this caliber IMO. I wish a car like this was for sale when I built my car a few years back...I could have bought this instead and saved myself a ton of money and aggravation.

It was hot? Before I help you with the black flag station again, we're getting a port-a-cool.

Don,

Was it your car that had some issues on the way home and stayed at the gas station? Did you get it home?

Don,
I would love a port-a-cool for this and the August DE......
Glad you got your car home. I'll bet your wife is tired of picking you up at Road Atlanta?

Yep, I lost the crank sensor, supposedly due to heat. The downside to custom building a "frankenstein" car is the trial and error part. Yep, I should always trailer the car to track.
