question for Brian ( Rarlyl8)

Brian, I've done a search and can't find the thread on your low cost air box replacement.. I'm thinking of doing it, it should be alot handier when working on my UNCIS that I'm about to order. What did you do with all the hoses that went into the box ?
What size /brand filter did you buy ??
Thanks
Todd

Are you talking about one of the air cleaners like on top of my engine. there a standard size air filter for a four barrel carb you can get at any local auto parts store, the filters are cheap like 6 bucks you can make a lid or just buy one for about 20 bucks for both. they come in 2, 4 and 6 inch heights. They seal up perfect.

Yup that's the one, didn't know the exact sizes.. So just plug all the oil vent lines etc going into the airbox ?

Dont plug, I installed an oil catch can to vent the hoses that went to the air box.

another small temporary air filter

This one was about $19 at advance auto parts in south florida.
I taped off the inside and outside elements real good and then had to cut the hole in the bottom bigger to fit on the CIS.
Luckily the only area on top to drill holes for the mounting screws without going through the filter element lined up just right.

Then I used a large rubber O-ring made for holding the fiberglass battery side covers on a mid 70's BMW motorcycycle rubber band style, fit just right under it to help make an air seal against the bottom of it and the slightly recessed CIS air filter flange.

I used small breather filters on the gas tank vent hose and oil tank breather hose and my car has headers and the aftermarket turbo sump tank doesn't have a vent hose so that ones gone.

This is just temporary until I get my cars AFR's somewhere near right if thats possible... because it doesn't flow or filter air anywhere near as well as the factory air cleaner/silencer housing.

My filter will flow at least 400Hp to the wheels. Might work better than you think.
