value of a 930

I need to get money for investing so I am contemplating selling my 930. I don't need to sell it but it would be nice to have the extra money. What would a good asking price be? Prices are generally all over the board on these... It has 56k, euro model, lots of records, green color, speedline replicas, 964 intercooler, bb dual outlet exhaust, carrera tensioners upgrade, huge a/c upgrades with new barrier hoses, sanden compresser, extra condensers, works tons better then stock! Just spent 2k on major service at a local porsche shop getting all the little things fixed. It is ready to drive anywhere. I have spent a considerable amount of money doing these little things over the past year. What would be a reasonable price for it? 25k? 30k?

The real value is whatever "somebody" is willing to pay for it.

BTW, what year is it?

Is that the original paint job?

I've been researching prices a lot since I don't own a 930 (or porsche for that matter) and it really depends on where you advertise. I've seen two Porsche's within the past month on Craigslist that had 40-60k miles (stock) and the owners were selling them for 25. With some "talking" I probably could have got them for close to 20. Put those same cars on Ebay and they would get somewhere in the 30's.

In regards to your car however. Because of the rare color, clean maintenance records and low miles, if you put it on Ebay you could expect close to 30 or high 20's.

Ebay is insane, there was a guy selling a ruf 930 shell with a blown ruf engine I believe with the block and all engine parts in a box. It had a reserve price of about 15k. The bid went all the way to 8k! For a car that doesn't run and that is in pieces I'd say that was pretty high.

That is a very attractive color. If the car is well sorted, the color should bring a premium. If I was looking for a 930 that color would get my attention, It's gorgeous, wheels too.

If it's as sorted out as you describe, maybe 30K. It might take going to 25K or lower to sell it in any reasonable amount of time though.

Does it have a sunroof?

Listen, I'll be happy to give you [flipping through wallet] ... $54 for it, right now. Offer expires/will be reduced as soon as I go out and have some lunch.

Great color, and the Speedline look is one of the few designs that actually looks better than the Fuchs. Sounds like the car is in fantastic shape. But, I think the market for that vintage car is roughly in the mid-20s to about $30K. Unless you happen to catch a 930 aficionado, I don't think you'll get much more for the considerable time and money you've put into the upgrades.

I'd think you'd be able to get more for your car if you advertise it through places like Pelican, than to the general public via Craigslist/local newspaper/etc. I'd still use those avenues for advertisement, but I just think you'll get better offers from 930 and Porsche fans, who will be willing to pay more for a nice car.

Best of luck.

Beautiful car. If I had enough room for two 911s I would buy it!

No sunroof makes it a bit more valuable to the right person!

We've exchanged messages before...I love the color of your car. I agree with others that you could get a premium for that. If I were looking right now I'd buy it. I hope you can figure out a way to keep it. Now if I could only convince my wife to let me have 2 930s, I add this to my '79 in Minerva Blue.

Buy her ( or encourage her to buy) more shoes, clothes and jewelry. That way she will feel guilty. Worked for me
