Fuel Distributer initial settings

Just put different fuel dist (USA) on my 79 930 as I am still waiting for stainless gasket for my old unit (Euro). My "New" fuel distributer is a 88 model but, by all visual considerations, it seems as if it should work. Everything lines up mechanically. My problem is that when I build system pressure and depress mixture adjuster I can hear system squeak and screech like expected. Turn on starter circuit and engine comes to life but then quits once initial fuel squirt is used up. Unfortunately I have most likely turned mixture adjuster screw out of its proper range.Curious to know if there is a baseline number per fuel system benchtop set-up in order to keep engine running so I can adjust AF + idle and get back to a starting point. Appreciate any response. EPS

If the engine fires/runs briefly, then shuts down, likely too lean. Fuel to fire initially is likely being supplied by the 7th injector and not the fuel head.
Don't know about benchtop set-up. Try turning enrichment screw 1/2 turn clockwise (remember, Right is Rich, Left is Lean), see if the engine will fire/run. Repeat till engine will stay lit so you can fine tune.
