Currently I could probably get mine up to about 2mph backwards with a good shove
hopefully by spring my engine will be back together

Did I mention I did this on the origonal, tired suspension? I don't do top end pulls like I used to with my C4/930 swap- that car I could cruise at 170 with one hand on the wheel- all it had was simple bilsteins and 3.8 rs wing.

Rev-limited 187. Rock stable but cost $$$. Worth it though.

If they are the same circumference as the 245/45/16's on the stock Fuchs then you'll have been going the same speed as i was, it's a lot of fun travelling at that pace isn't it

Check out NZ mad bugger Ray Williams setting the NZ land speed record in his 930, in 1995 i think he "just" managed 300kph which is basically 187mph, i would guess stock gears and stock wheels YouTube - Ray Williams NZ Landspeed Record 1995 (Highlights) You've got to be bloody brave to go this quick on a road like that!!

Then he had another go in 1996 and managed 196mph, i guess he'd done something with either the tyres, gearing or raised the rev limit? And he did it in the wet!!! Notice he's taped up everything, removed the mirrors etc. Brave speed on a little road, i have a runway to play on when i do it YouTube - Ray Williams NZ Landspeed Record 1996 (Full Footage)

I punched out at this max speed in my 930.....there was more to go but I got scared. Pic taken when gps was in a landcrusier after. I knew I had gone fast, my speedo way over reads at the higher end but when I reviewed the gps later I was impressed. How it started was some prick in a honda vtec came up behind me, flashing lights etc I dropped the 930 into 3rd and the honda fella didnt know what hit him, I was gone. Silly stuff for a grown man but hell there's the boy in us all.......

Unfortunately, if anything goes wrong at high speed, this could be the result. While our cars are made to go very fast, they aren't engineered to protect us in a crash in the upper end of the performance envelope.

Please make sure that your car is in top shape and that the road environment is controlled when attempting very high speeds.

Is it the case oil scavange line with a visable section going forward to a front mounted oil tank?

Sorry guys, embarrassed to admit that I don't remember but yours is a reasonable theory Fairman. I wasn't the owner or builder ... was (blessed to be) a co-driver that only participated when the car was entered in endurance races.

Between 165 and 170 indicated on mine. Of course I do believe the speedo is a bit optimistic...

Anything under 20 seconds for a measured mile and things seem like you're in a video game. As a skeptical guy might think some poor sap will have to scoop you up with a shovel if anything goes wrong.

With my Strosek 911 RUF BTR best of the last summer season was, when driving in Autobahn to Nürburgring, 343km/h (I think 200+ mph) measured with GPS data logger. My VDO speedo isn't showing anything smart, because it ends to 260km/h. Should upgrade it or update it... Haven't done it, because in track use It's the logger which gives the speed information.

almost fast enough

I have been fortunate to have a key to a 1987 930 cab for a few years now. A prior owner had installed a 5 speed, a 1 bar spring, a RUF exhaust and ??? I have seen 140 in fourth gear, will wait for the time when I can get her on the track to see just what she is good for.
A Ferrari 355 is on my short list, give one of these a try, they really rock, and with flair. With the current market a good example can be had for $50k.

If I won the lotto tomarrow this would be the first car I get in addition to my 930. The best looking lower priced Ferrari ever- all I would do is throw a set of Garrets and a Motec and be done.

I did 159 mph (GPS reading) in my 930 several years ago -- the speedo was reading nearly 170 mph. It was a white-knuckle event as the needle climbs very slowly above 150 mph! I don't think I'd try it again.

In sharp contrast, I did 170+ mph in a Panamera S over the summer on the Autobahn. It was like a Sunday drive, complete with passengers in the car!

Modern technology (and aerodynamics) make all the difference.

186mph, might still be in my Garmin which is currently on my boat in storage, in West Virginia while returning from Turbopalooza at 5600rpm in fifth gear there was a black Cayenne Turbo S following me and I made him a tiny dot in my mirror shortly thereafter I pulled off for gas and he kept going. I has to do it and now that I have I probably won't go that fast on the street anymore.

Lincoln, yours is the only car I'd attempt such a run in due to the roll cage.
