Question What is the top speed you've seen in your 930 ?

I haven't had a chance to try mine out yet, but have been reading a stock 930 is good for around 160 mph ?

Who's had their car maxed out and how fast was your indicated speed?

155mph and still pulling pretty well. 1 week after I bought my 79 930.
Should be good for 165mph at least. Need lots of room to see though.

70 MPH on the interstate. After all ... that is the speed limit around here.

Gear

All depends on your ring and pinion + how tight you wind it. I was clocked at 183 in Silver State speed trap. EPS

Hmmm... I er buried my stocker a few weeks after purchase - '87 speedo is, what, 170 or 175 IIRC. Figured had to try it once ya know?

It was still pulling and had 'some' meat left in the tach, I lifted. Strongly supect indicated v. actual was a bit optimistic IMO. Stil pretty farquing strong, I was impressed. It was pretty stable up there too - and got there quick.

It's funny - I have to keep answering my 5.5yr old's questions: "daddy, is the Porsche faster than your Audi?"

Then I go into the whole "quicker vs. faster" angle. Sorry, the //S8 caps out ~ 182 uncorked 8-).

Short gearing. Hits redline at 156 mph within what seems like a few seconds from normal highway speeds. Did it with my windows all down.

With another gear, this car seems like it would keep accelerating hard for a while.

With stock gearing and stock tires 100mph comes up at exactly 3500rpm on mine, that's reading off the satnav. 180mph comes up around 6300rpm, there is room for quite a bit more before the limiter kicks in

Never had mine on the freeway/interstate for play purposes, and have never been to a track. I drive mine everyday and commute to & from, on country roads & such.
So with that being said, I've seen indicated 125 on several occasions & 115 damn near everyday on one isolated short straightaway while commuting to work. Now that may not seem too much, but please note that the posted speed limit on my entire commute never exceeds 40mph, with many a curve posted at 15mph. So it's damn fun no matter what!!
One of these days the long arm of the law is going to catch me, but until then....

+1....it's as though I wrote those words myself!
For me, 125 or so, or until the road condition and/or traffic becomes an issue. Gotta be safe, you know. Thank God for radar detectors; it's saved me more than once. Sure would like to know what she'll do when given unlimited road and no safety issues. With my mods, I've always suspected that 170+ was achievable, and it sounds like I'm not too far off.

182 on a measured course. I doubt I'll ever try it again. I'm getting to old for this kind of crazy stuff. The climb from 175-180 is kind of slow and hairy.

162mph for a stock 3.3 Euro... (Presumably a bit less for a 265bhp American car?)

Had 160 out of mine..

Going to Watkins Glen tomorrow, will let you guys know what I see thru the esses.
Of course, I will neither confirm or deny going above 70mph on public highways.....
The stock cars are geared to pull into the 180mph range with the 4 speed tranny, but getting their is gonna take some open road and big balls to not get a go directly to jail card from Johnny Law.
On that note, I will neither confirm nor deny receiving a speeding ticket for 130mph in a 70mph zone out here.......

Maybe we should start a thread with how fast was your worst speeding ticket in the 930?

I was pulled over exceeding 150. There were 2 county cop cars behind me with lights on that I did not notice for a little while. They are not allowed to go over 110. They said I did about 110 around a sweeping turn then "walked off and left them like they were sitting still". Neither car had radar or I would have noticed them sooner. They were so impressed that I stopped they let me off with a warning.
