BIG congrats to you Brian. I'm so glad you finally found your dream car. I can't wait to see it in person when I'm down there in your area. That car looks mint. Make sure you start a new thread with lots of pics including interior. I bet you had and still have a big grin on your face. Now comes the slippery slope of mods and improvements. Lower that baby and a 3.6 wheels on there. Good thing there are still few months left before she goes into hibernation. Nice pick Brian.

This is the car I dreamt about as a kid and now it's in my garage.
And BTW, even though I drive my car daily (four years, now), I still open the kitchen door into my garage, just to look at her! I still can't belive it's there! I guess what I'm trying to say, is that feeling doesn't wear off!

Can you imagine driving the stick and lil fancy footwork? You'll love a tip but can you imagine?

Goodluck.

Brian, welcome.
If you are a DYI guy there is a lot of info over on Rennlist in the normally aspirated 964 area.
I do a lot of lurking there looking for info but it seems like most of the 964 Turbo guys there are check writers and don't take too kindly to people who do their own stuff.

The following comments are my thoughts and do not necessarily relate to the thread starter:

There is something strangely cool about the 930 that the newer cars don't have. I haven't driven enough of the newer cars to know where these features stop and start. I had a 94 3.6 turbo and while it was a much nicer car than my 930 I liked the 930 better. It is more pure.

It's almost like a right of passage to go for a ride on a hot day with only a cruel joke for air conditioning and no cup holders. But you have to ask yourself, do you want to drive a race car or be comfortable and sip a beverage? I love the smell that is a blend of gas, oil, and leather.

With the 930's there are so many sacrifices, comfort, reliability, convenience, money. With the newer cars one only has to sacrifice money, and these days not as much of it. 2001-2003 911 turbos are much cheaper than a properly modified 930. Maybe it's the extra sacrifice that leads to the extra passion for the 930.

I got pulled over once in my '85 930 by county police officers (4 cops in 2 cars). I was traveling 150+ on a back country road with great visibility of the road ahead. They let me go with a warning. I wonder if they would have been as kind if I was driving a 2001+ turbo.

Congrats! I love my '92 964T. I bought with 34,000 miles on it, and have over 45,000 in about 20 months of ownership. Yep, I bought it to drive.

Mine was pretty ehavily modified when I bought it, and it has taken some sorting out, but like others have said, that is part of the fun.

Oh, and I ditched the cassette holders, and ordered the 993 part. Its a little bin, and to be honest, way more uselful than the cassette thingy. I still have it of course, but the bin is a bit more useful.

I have done some DIY on mine, so if you have questions, don't hesitate asking.

Bill

You'd spend the night in jail up here no matter what you were driving at that speed. I work with a guy who got pulled over doing 110MPH and they hancuffed him and threw him in jail.
