The leak is between the cam box on the heads, and the chain/tensioner housing.
They threw about 1/2 lb of silicon in there.
A seal might have worked better. Since it was already apart.

The thing is, it is actually amazing how much oil is in the cam boxes at speed. The scavenge in the motor does a good job as it does remove the excess. But it can't take the oil from the boxes fast enough at speed since the oil, at that point is at the rear. Since the boxes have excessive oil at speed and there is obviously a problem there since there is a overbundant amount of silicone, that needs to addressed right away. If leaking at that point where the silicone is, it would spit or spray oil on the wastegate since it is almost underneath that particular junction. What sucks is the cam sprocket and tensioner ect. on the lft side must be disassembled to get to the seal. But I would address it ASAP before anything else.

The leak was obvious, but not serious initially. Possibly on the track it has gotten a whole lot worse at max revs. Looks like I'll have to pull it apart.
I'm doing precisely the same job on my SC at moment - just about to remove cam box. But for another reason (find a noise). This motor (SC) has been completely oil tight for last 3 years. Still looks as clean as I put it back in. Reluctant to split it.
But the 930 could definitely benefit from less oil leaking. I guess I can't be sure what is going on til I fix that leak.

Alan
