3.6 Turbo ???

I am intersted in purchasing a 94 3.6 Turbo. My understanding is that they were one year only. I have a good deal of 930 experience but mostly in the 78-83 cars. What can you tell me about this car? Performance, performance mods, values, reliability, etc.... I also have heard that these cars had large option lists, such as interesting color combo's, interiors, etc... If anyone has any photos of 3.6's I would love to see them....Thanks

You may want to also check the 964t section of Rennlist and do some searching. "cobalt" has many posts that will interest you. He's a very nice guy and will help you out too.

A 94 turbo 3.6 was only made 1 year 94. But 3.6 turbos were also made in 93.

Values on on the 3.6 cars just keeps going up. Performance is much better than a stock 3.3 but not nearly as good as a modified 3.3. And most of us would not really want to modify a 3.6 since they are worth so much in stock form and possibly worth much less in modified form.

The suspension is also VERY different (coilovers as opposed to TBars) and the brakes are much better. The transmission is a much shorter throw 5 speed that I like much better than the 930's 4 speed.

However, you don't feel the road inputs through the wheel, seat, and pedals as well as you do in the 930. Plus the 3.6 cars in stock form feel very heavy compared to the relatively light and agile 930's. Clearly the 3.6 is the better car but it does not always feel like the better car.

Just my .02

Will upload photos soon.

The correct term is '94MY 3.6 turbo.

Hahahaha. I love your solution to the dilemma though. Have both.

That was nice but sadly now I don't have either one. I sold the 3.6 because it needed some paint work and I did not want to do that. The previous owner had buffed too hard and there were a few thin spots.

I got frustrated with the 85 not being reliable and not passing emissions. I ran out of patience with shops not getting things right the first time and making me bring it in 2-3 times for each issue. Round trip to the shop is 6+ hours.

In hindsight I should have kept both of them. Live and learn. Currently I am back in the market again looking to start over with a clean slate.

Thanks
Kirk
