315/30-18 Which manufacturer has the widest tire?

I'm in search of the widest 315/30-18 STREET TIRE on the market. The charts given by the tire companies are proving to be total BS, which has been a very expensive learning experience so far.

Right now I am running Pirelli P-Zero Rosso N5s. Perelli is notorious for smaller than advertised tires. These things are a full one inch more narrow than the BFG 315/35-17 I have on another set of wheels. The BFGs are HUGE. A full 13 3/8" section width and 26" tall.

What I need is a tire that has an actual 13" section width and 25.5" tall. Rims will be 11.5 x 18.

The BFT BFGs will be going on the auction block along with the 9&11.5" Kodiacs they are mounted on. Love the wheels but the tires are simply too big for my taste. No manufacturer offers a 315/30-17 which is really what I need.

So what are your real-world experiences?

I haven't checked in tires that low profile, but it seems like Michelins are wider than other tires of the same size.

what's the condition of the BFGs? They are not the drag tires are they? Are you interested in selling the tires only?

You've confirmed my experiences with tire sizing. A true "Black Art".

The BFG G-Force T/A TDK tires are brand new. They are advertised as Extreme Performance Summer. I plan to sell the wheels and tires as a package sense I cannot get the tire size I want in 17".
Right now I'm going 18" as the 315/30-18 is actually shorter than the 315/35-17. So I need the widest 315/35-18 on the market to fill the hole. The puny 315 Pirellis are actually more like 295 in any other brand. I WON'T be buying another set of those ever again.

Thanks Brian, I am having a hard time with 315 17" tires also. I found some Vredersten in that size, I am going to end up buying them. Have you heard or have any experience with them. I know they are a big tire mfg in europe. Good luck witht he sale.

Rarly. I don't know if they make them in the size you need, but Kuhmo's seem to have the widest 315 I have seen. The victoracer.

I hate tire companies...and I wish Pirelli would stop using the penis measuring stick...3.25" will never be 4"....a 355mm wide tire should be just that 13.9"...but its not, thus my rims had to be cut down to an anemic 13.5" to fit the damn things...

Alan, please e-mail me. My PM box is flaky and does not always notify me of a message.

Still on the fence. I measured and re-measured everything this weekend to order custom offset wheels that will perfectly place the available tires. I'm even contemplating modifying the flares for a smidge more room. Close ain't good enough on a steet car, it has to be perfect.

Now see why can't they make that in an 18" or 19"?

385/15-22 is 15.2" wide by 26.5" tall.
It is rediculous to think that would fit under a 'vette or Viper. Way too tall for a 930 as well, besides that it just plain looks stupid. Bet it rides real good too.

Gabe your best bet was the 18x26-18s that recently became NLA, what a disappointment that was.

I'm still looking ...

These are on the back of my car and they work very well for a good price. I don't know how the width compares to others in this size

I have read several tire comparisons in magazines and the Falken rt615s are almost always the widest tires when compared to other brands of the same size.

Sadly the specs on this website do not prove this.
http://www.edgeracing.com/tires/3153018/
The advertized spec on the section width is not what you are looking for but who knows what they in real life.

However they are a pretty rad tire for the money.

Why can't you go by advertised tread width?
