Rear wheel bearings replaced????

So I got everything back together smoothly, and my question is, is it normal for new bearings to have some resistance to spinning nice and freely. I haven't torqued nut to 250 lbs yet, but just spinning with hand it is not as free wheeling as I thought it would be, even with tire mounted I bet it wouldn't spin more than a revolution or two by hand. WTF?? I plan on torquing nut down, then release it and final torque it. Can anyone put my mind at ease?? Jamie

Are we talking axles all bolted up, rotors & calipers bolted up, e-brake assy. installed, and now it is not spinning freely?
Or are we talking hubs assembled in trailing arms with new bearings and nothing else attached, and not spinning freely?

Mark, just the hub with new bearings and seals, no park brake, axle shafts or rotor. I am confident that everything went in straight and races are bottomed out. The only thing I didn't replace was spacer between bearings, it looked fine and didn't see any reason to spend $100 on a new one. Just got off the phone with Monty at Redmond Euro and he said to torque nut down to 240 and back off abit to preload bearings and see if that helps. Hub spins with no binding or noise, but I just thought it would spin nice and freely. Any other suggestions, befor I start over. Jamie

As long as it's not binding or grinding, it's probably fine. The only way they'd really spin free is if there was no grease and loose tolerances.

Thanx Shifter, that puts my mind at ease abit. I think I will just torque nut to preload bearings and call it good, put a few miles on and recheck.
