Help identify this Gusset
During my engine drop, Bryan and I discovered this Gusset on each rear shock tower obviously for added support.
The question is, did it come from factory this way or was it added at some point? Some interesting observations, the white wrinkle coat is undisturbed and the gusset continues around the shock tower where it would be impossible to weld as it sits too close to the rear firewall. My car is an 87 930 with a CA delivery date of 11/01/87. ![]() ![]()

My 88 930 also has those gussets and the previous owners were too cheap to do anything (correct) to the car so I assume they are stock. They could have been tig welded with a mini-torch during assembly at the factory.

Thanks for the reply!
This is the 3'rd item I have found on my car that should not of been there if it were an 87. I really think my car is an 88 that was delivered early in 87 seeing how the delivery date was in Nov of that year. Now I wonder what were all the differences between 87 and 88!
