What happens when a GT40 shows up to crash a PCA event last weekend?



...It gets crashed on the "touring lap"

FYI: Both Driver and Passenger walked away with only a few cuts and scrapes. Scratch one $160K car... It's got rear damage, too. Hit the wall twice...

Looks like the Miatas crashed the party too., but went home on safely.

Thats really too bad, luckily no fatalaties, so I hope they are thankful.

The real thing F-car or P-car is Porsche or Ferrari.
The real thing refers to the cars in the same class that are faster, built better, and the originator in the design- there is a reason people by the European variants for more money- they are better. Also I know for a fact that the technology in that car was tainted by accountants more than Porsche or Ferrari could ever be.

don't think insurance companys cover DE or track stuff anymore, you need specific track insurance, looks like a total to me, reminds me of a story of a guy that rolled a Daytona Ferrari at a track event years ago put it on a trailer then dropped it off a cliff to collect the insurance $$$

Well, now that pics of this GT are plastered all over the internet, good luck on this owner pulling off that stunt. Moral of the story, if you write it off at a DE, kill all witnesses before you try to stage insurance fraud.

Regardless the circumstances, it's a shame this car was wrecked.

Danged ABS have anything to do with this? Guess I'm old school, my last close call was due to a Lancia's stupid ABS. I'm ready to get the ABS off my C2 Turbo when the other projects in progress are complete.

this was done under acceleration onto the front straight. An LSD would have been in order to keep the back-end in the "back"

you're right, I probably didn't help this guy if he was planning on changing his story.

the reality is, that he was just doing a track tour - - not a race!! I can't see the difference between that and just "losing it on the corner of Main and 2nd Street."

he wasn't racing - - just lost control while getting into the pedal...

He will get an easy $50K for:
1) The engine and tranny
2) The suspension - rear
3) All the interior
4) The brakes and wheels
5) The glass

So he can re-coup enough to buy a used Z06 as his next track car or a well sored 930.
