Hey Mike, our cars are a bit different. Be it as it may, if it was good enough for Mario it is good enough for me. The price you mentioned to build yours is in line with what the appraisers estimated for mine ( $200K to $220K in 84!!!) as they had consulted with Kremer and others to make the appraisal. Some folks do not realize you have to buy a new car @ $50K + to get started. Anyway that 3 position switch for enrichment, where is it located on your car ? On the DP car being offered for $42K even with a cloudy history sounds cheap. However 935 Kremer cars ( refered to as Porsche Kremer ) have their own mystique, as Kremer continued building the race winning 935 cars after Porsche production ceased. Also by being successful in international competition with Porsche 911, RS, RSR, 935, 956, 962, . My kremer 935 street K2 is configured very close to the track cars, as it was originally built for Mario ( who raced Kremer cars ) at the Kremer Bros shop, shortly after they ceased production of the competition 935 K2 & K3 customer race cars.

Voitureltd,

I have sucessfully removed my foot from my mouth, and will now apologize for saying the Andretti car looked "cheezy"... I was un-aware that you had purchased the car (I looked at it when it was up for sale and decided not to bid on it) Make no mistake, it is a very nice car. It is just so "unique" in the way it was built for Mario, which I believe was done to make it a one-of-a-kind car for him. I think this is why they deleted all the Porsche factory bits, to make the car that much more individualized. God knows people like Mario don't want to see someone else driving down the street in the same car they just had specially built.
I do, however, like the standard bumpers because they bring some of the authentic "Porsche" character to the car.

Had I not already had a coupe that was very close to your car in appearance (however without the Andretti provinance) I might have looked at it with a bit more interest. I would love a Cab or Targa version someday. I have a factory 930S Cab, and it is a wonderfull car, but lacks the drama of a Kremer/DP car.
Anyway, I hope you are enjoying it, and again apologize for my earlier remark. All of these cars are awesome, even if they are a bit different, and especially because they are.
The switch for the 7th injector control is mounted in the top of the automatic heater control, between the seats. Not sure if it is in front of or behind the adj. boost knob. I will be taking some more pics of the car as soon as I get a chance to get it out of the garage.
Cheers,
Mike

KremerFan, I think you did express your opinion well. My Kremer IS a bit over the top for a street car , however now that I own it I will leave it as built. I have a 600hp twin turbo sitting on the shelf that I would love to have put in it and do some Porsche DE track stuff , but have resisted the temptation ( with some comments from purist friends ) to the point I have gotten a different chassis for it to run in. Now to get them to help get this one up and running on track for some Porsche DE track play..img]http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads14/upgraded+race+car+0081230945958.jpg[/img]

The other end that I hope some get used to viewing. Apologies to all for getting this thread so far off topic. Hope you get something out of it. Sometimes these topics like some cars / projects, they take on a life of their ownhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1230946358.jpg

Yea, I know what you mean. Already having a race running gear sitting there, then getting the chassis was the beginning of work in progress. Now on to getting it together to pass tech after many years of non use. Fortunately I have a few friends that race Porsche's that will (if I locate and buy the parts ) trade their labor and skills for some seat time.

Open old tread

Hi Porsche lovers
DP or Kremer cars, For me as old European racer, the Kremer for me was just a Racing team that bought cars from Porsche and DP Motorsport, and made some own upgrades, And DP Motorsport made complete racing cars as well as street cars. The most known DP racecar is the 1,4L 935 with a factory engine, and also the 76 Le mans car. DP get engines from Porsche and also from RS tuning.
This summer I took my old 76 DP to long trip to Germany, I even had my wife as a co driver
First stop was at Nurburg ring. After 2 laps on the track, I found out that she was almost dead. She was green in the face, and something was coming out of her mouth. She said something about stupid I.,,
That’s the price of being married.. I think.
But the car was still running and I was on my way to Cologne and plan a visit to DP Motorsport.
It was a fantastic visit. The complete family showed up, and gave me a tour around the factory.
They still build racing cars after 35 years, and Patrick the son showed me the 76 DP/Kremer Lemans car in version 2, made for a customer, and they had a lot of cars that I was not allowed to take any photos on. I wonder, why a 2011 version of a 997 Rs was standing there, it was a composite car. under 900kg, with aircondition?
I have problem to understand why someone says that DP Motorsport is just a body builder. DP Motorsport is a complete car builder, and still produce fantastic cars. That`s it..
For me Kremer boys just went over the street and asked Eckerhard Zimmerman to produce a car for them . Kremer did this just to support the racing team with some extra money.
The Kremer name was a well known brand name, much more famous then DP Motorsport. The Kremer racing team was a successful racing team in the World Champion ship. And DP just produce racing and street cars. And was so successful so they open up an extra production line in Sweden. With help from the famous Porsche technician Joseph Zirkelbach.
I hope this information is Ok..
I add some photos, The quality is so so..

Exactly, most of my reference is to the kremer Porsche as to how it relates to the relatively few street K2 were built at that time by Kremer. DP Motorsport went on to produce successfully these cars, most likely, as they controlled the bodywork production. Kremer seemed to go to the K5 which did not go over to well. In short kremer Porsche 935 cars are well known for their impressive racing achievements and DP Motorsports 935 with more street use built cars. Each company had crossovers but ended up with their own impressive achievements.

Glad this thread was resurected. Wish i could afford either a DP or Kremer.

cellison 12-07-2010 06:10 AM

any idea on what range a real dp 935 targa is worth with low miles and great condition?

DPHANS 12-16-2010 12:09 AM

Dp

Hi In Europe the price on a Targa/Cab is 10-15% lower then a coupe´.
Maybe its different in the US,
Visit the building of a DP935/3.( Its fantastic you can still order a DP 935 car from DP Motorsport.)

Wow.......that's an amazing piece of Porsche History. That was the car I was always sketching in my High School math notebook instead of paying attention in class........
