The story I got if I recall correctly was that it originally came from Ohio to Florida and has been down here for years. That may not be right though so I will pursue it further. Perhaps a Carfax would shed some light.

It's probably not the car. The owner purchased the car from the PO in California. It had a white interior and the PO was a cigar smoker. It had that distinctive smell....it also had such much tar from PO's hands that in impregnated tar on the steering wheel spokes. It also had Porsche's custom burlwood dash.

When I was living in Boston, I traveled to Petite LeMans a couple of times in '99 and 2000. Saw a slant exactly like yours traveling the access roads at Road Atlanta.

Hi Steve, I remember a Mercedes dealer in Tampa having red DP like that one about 7 years ago.

I think Tony/voitureltd had one like it also. Maybe he will see this and let us know. I believe he was also up in that same area.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

kycarguy 935:
Paul told me that the car is a 1986 930 that was sent directly from Porsche to DP Motorsport to have the conversion performed. It has some powerful mods and also a special steering wheel that was hand signed by Emerson Fittipaldi. I know that Paul bought the car in Florida and drove it back to Minnesota. How cool is that?! Most guys would have had it transported. I know that there is a photo of a DP Conversion on www.dp935registry.com that looks identical, but I'm not positive that it is the same car.

I just looked and I think that is the picture of the car sitting at the MB dealership. I can see some MB signs in the picture.

That is pretty cool he drove it home. Too bad they weren't having Turbopalooza at the same time to join in on the way home. hehe

Few Questions

I've had my '89 SN for about 3 weeks now and am looking for the following minor items, and/or advice:

Where can I get a good-fitting indoor car cover (recommendations?)
I need a Tire Compressor, are all years the same or ??
Anybody bother with a SN bra for rock chip protection of original paint?

Thanks in advance!

I've owned an '86 505 coupe since 2004 - I have not been active on any P-car forum for a couple of years or so, but I used to post here often. Here are pics of my COA and the car....

If you have original paint I recommend clear film protection. Depending on the color and quality of the job it is practically unnoticeable and can always be removed. Saved my 15 year old 38k mile original paint with zero blemishes or rock chips. The original owner had it installed I replaced it about 4 years ago and it looks great. Nearly impossible to match my paint color so it is worth every penny IMO.
