the one thing we can't control is the availability of fuel - if those idiots somehow manage to outlaw the fuels our cars need, we're out of luck. I wouldn't put it past them. then we'll be sitting in our garages staring at 3000lbs of modern art that we can't drive. hope it doesn't come to that!

I personally like the wax threads better than the floor mat ones- they get really heated...

Make no mistake, I take my waxing seriously and I keep my car looking good, but my wax snobbery stops with one coat 3m and one coat of Griot's. My OEM Turbo embroidered floormats have greasy Vans footprints on them, and I'm PROUD of that! They're greasy footprints from rebuilding my engine.
The snobs who tell me that CIS period-correct and is "as Porsche intended" haven't read their Porsche history. The engineers were trying like hell to get Motronic on the late '80s 930s, nevermind the 965.

Which reminds me...

I found cat paw prints on my car. The cat had jumped up on the fender just below the windshield then subsequently hit that fresh coat of Griott's Best-Of-Show and skidded down the hood and off the bumper. The scratches in the paint will buff out, but the little f***er left four claw marks on my "smile". Now where did I put my old Crossman .177?

U mean like these? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHh7ZHXWXXI&feature=PlayList&p=59BA50C282B9145A&playnext=1&index=18 (i kind of dig the silver Speedart one)

Thank god for tuners.

What it boils down to is men

Lets take a look at Audi. It is similar to Porsche, in that is i producing minivans and sedans, and while i really dislike their styling, u cant argue with the fact that they are on fire in the performance dept - both on the road and track

Why?

Piech = Bada$$. The Grandson of Ferry Porsche, father of the 917 and flat 16 engine, has pushed the Audi to build the Quattro, got it past as troubled period and has remade it into the racing and performance company it never was with the R8/R10. He pushed VW to acquire Lambo and bugatti and the results speak for themselves. U see a lot of Audis on track day and he is one of the main reasons why.

Weedking = Pu$#y. U get the feeling that racing is something distasteful and financically extravagant for him that Porsche must do to in order to maintain some semblance of it's image so that it can sell cars. He continues to keep the company's nuts in escrow for the sake of more $$$

In constrast:

Ernst Fuhrmann = Bad A$$. The guy who led Porsche in the early 70's and pushed it to build the 930, had the shop build him the first turbocharged 911 in 1972 so he could 'test' it out himself. THIS is the difference between Porsche then and now.

Can u see Weedking asking to have an 800hp 997 Turbo built to 'see' how it would feel? The guy probably drives an auto V6 cayenne to work.

Porsche simply needs a strong performance oriented CEO back at the helm. It may be too late, however as the company may be too big now and the profits of selling to the masses too great.

Ruf, Sportec, techart and speedart, EVO and other tuners, as well as u guys here, are building the real Porsches in the performance tradition in the spirit of Dr.-Ing hcF Porsche now anyway.

Whether you liked Schutz or not, you had to respect his policy:
"If we're gonna build it, we're gonna race it. <924s, 928s, he raced everything>
If we're gonna bother racing it, we're going to win."

Correct. You get the feeling that Porsche's heritage is almost entirely irrelevant to Weedy. You get the feeling that his mission is to hoist any product on the public that they will buy, with no thought whatever of heritage.

The fact that he insists that the minivans and sedans LOOK like a 911 says it all. He is whoring out the 911 heritage to the highest bidder.

...and being on my second Audi, they are making a helluva car right now. I don't like the latest styling, but an UrQ is undeniably cool, and my B5 S4 was a tuning-paradise.

Funny thing is, I am considering getting rid of my 83 Audi Urq to get a 930. Talk about no market support for parts. These old racing quattro cars put Audi on the map as well.

Late to fray (f'n LIFE lately!), gotta say I esp. enjoyed some of the virtual Kaczinski Manifiesto Diatribe *rants* I did. Thanks!

SO well stated... couldn't have said better mesself and I like to say things goooood 8-).

Awesome. Nice break in the day today.

I like to say it's like the mfg's are going straight ahead while the public is turning right, yet they keep on going.

I esp. love when mfg's come up with the next "must have" feature. Says who? Them? C'mon now - bite my @$$ already. And blome while yer at it. Geesh.

I agree with the comment that it DOES sometimes require models like the Gayman / Gayenne to put the bread 'n butter on table... but... BUT... if and only if it funds the greater good. Which in P's recent case it tisn't. Sure the 997tt's a fast car - who cares? Give us SOUL already. Passion. Make me sheet mesself - yeah!

Instead?

Panabarfia???

<<>>

HOW THE ***F*** did that make it to production? Do they not have eyeballs in Stuttgart? Maybe they hired Chris Bangle??? I don't get it. The concept could be kewl - the execution is a hurl-inducing used bunghole wipe.

Justin, btw - I read like one issue of that ubercheezy rag years ago and nearly puked. Never again. What garbage.

And further btw - loved the Rennlist dig. Shame as there's some cool dudez there, but like er "AFM744" I was using both but in last year gravitated more here as 'here' just felt more right. And... "Vans"... HA! Awesome.

All we, as grassroots enthusiasts can do is keep fighting the good fight out there - spread the word - _REP_RE_SENT_!

Proud to be carrying a torch, I am.

And, Justin - I bet you say your opening line to all the forums 8-).

Keep on keepin on bruthas. We're in good company amongst ourselves. Until then, restrain yerselves and your checkbooks:

Another little nugget. Is all that money being plowed back into Porsche Racing? Or lining the pockets of the corporate pirates?

My "HA!" wasn't a dig AFM744 (screen names!!!!) - Vans rock! I was laughing.

and

Yes... I STILL HAVE my (20") Skyway T/A with blue Tuff Wheels. I gave my kids quite the chuckle this summer when I ganked it out, inflated the tires, and busted out a few tricks. Sad / true is... I'm better on it now as an adult (stronger) than back 'then'. D'oh.

I didn't know a bike fit in the back of one... but 3 kids with sandy feet and a trunk full of sandy beach toys I know do heh heh. Mom nonetoohappy @ 'that' discretion (they were 5/3/3) - hey, it was a mile up the road...

ANYwho

My GT2 bud just scored an '05 997C2S for a friend to come get, chat last night revealed he does dig it overall. Interesting feedback from the man who has / drives 'everything'. I've not yet whirled any of the neu junkerz like Gayman or (neu) Gayenne - well, aside from the GT3RS but hey WTF's not to like 'there'. So that was good to hear and gives hope that "all is not lost" with Porsche. Oh, and that he's hopefully lining up the GT2 to make room for... a Carrera GT. Wouldn't suck to have a closeclose friend with THAT now yeah!

Any GT2 takerz? 8-)

Yeah, i agree Paul, all is not lost if the proper mindset returns.

But you know, for $219K , i wouldn't even have to think twice:

No wonder the GTR spanked the GT2 - from that interior, can u even tell that u are driving a car supposedly built for the track??? Rohl probably got distracted by the sat-nav wench trying to tell him where to go on the Ring.

I wouldn't want to have to maike the choice from that CTR2 and a CTR thought, that would be torture!! haha

Hah Paul, i knew uwe were a fellow Dead head! Nice wall montage.

If we dont run out of dino juice any time soon, i'll bet that CTR2S is gonna easily be worth twice what that guy is asking in the future, especially an unmolested, low mileage example (How could u have that car in ur garage and not drive the wheels off it??).

Thanks. Heh, yeah - my garage walls are rather uh crazy. I had a bunch of pics and posters and er 'stuff' laying around and figured what the hey. I think I got a 'bit' ohhhh... carried away - I have issues.

Here's a broader view (with some nice Fredrick's of Hollywood porn thrown in for good measure) - the streamers were for my son's Lego bday party (stop laughing):
