Greetings: Porsche Gal.

He just got married....He doesn't need anymore headaches with old schools cars...Better be good with a wrench and bills...I see where u r coming from, but there is great risk...There is no comparison with todays cars with the past....

My left knee wouldn't last a week in any N.Y. stop and go traffic, let alone any just stopping...

My car is just for good for a serious hp.rush and thats it.....If its stolen or used as DD I would lose some serious $$$$$... Happy Driving!!

Jah mon - true story. Think he got maybe an '04 and with ~ 40sK, minty mint, all racks, hitch, 2 sets P wheels, maintained, etc. for like mid 27's IIRC.

Heck another bud of mine just missed out on an optioned '08 Turbo S with like 9k for near $70k. Unreal. Sigh, as, woulda been real nice to have 'around'.

Yasin as always hits nail / head on both points. Yup and yup!

Jeff... touche! Mine likes her Pamper'd(Pampers?) mobile, got her into MB's years back and can't pry her out. Doesn't drive stick (trust me this is a VERY GOOD THING).

Besides, a Targa'd be hard to fit 3x car seats in 8-).

I have to be careful with my girlfriend- when I met her she thought a toyota prius was a nice car. Then she loved my Galant VR-4 @25 PSI- then she loved the slantnose @ 500 horse, then I gave her a ride in a F430 Spyder (not mine) and, well, now she is not as much of a fan of the previous two cars any more...
I think she wants a Bimmer

I went with a friend to look at a couple year old CTS-V last year. I was hoping it would be a cool car with a Corvette V8 and 6 speed. Unforunately I was very disappointed. Maybe the newer ones are better, but I doubt it.

My friend bought an even older M3 that was in much better condition than the Caddy.

I'm all for buying American, but not to the point of wasting my money on something that falls apart. OTOH, I drive a Chevy truck because Germans don't make pickup trucks.

Why can't you guys think that a 911 or 930 is a good wife car?
I try to keep my wife out of the 930 because she keeps getting in races

No, I'm not kidding

wow.. this really took off since i checked it last!! haha

I was browsing at whats for sale.. and you can get a decent mile e55 for 25-32k !!! that just blows my mind!

And a RS6 for 30-35k...

Gabe_ i have to agree with you i think a 550i would be the perfect car for her, if i could talk her into a benz.. the e55 is sooo tempting at that price.. i'm not a huge fan but it is one luxurious rocketship!!

I'm trying to talk her out of the charger.. its a cool musclecar.. but i want her to have european..and by that i mean german.. haha is there really any other way??

The new CTS-V is nothing like the previous model and is one of the best sedans on the road today. Blows away many of our coveted sports cars.

IMO I would take the Audi S8 over any of them and if you need an SUV type nothing is better or comes close to the Cayenne TT. We have had ours for 5 years without issue and it is a monster. Faster than your GTO's and other cars, handles better. Right now there isn't a better bargain Porsche out there except maybe the 996TT.

I would trade in my CTT for a newer car but my wife loves it and we decided to hold onto it until the extended warranty expires.

550i would be a safe bet - by safe I mean still fun but being more rock solid in terms of reliable. E55 would be my 1st choice tho... assuming you can find the right car / warranty and be somewhat savy with likely glitches that will invariably ensue down the road. My gut.

E55 power is fantastic, it comes on without violence and just seems to 'happen'. Same with brakes - you just stop. Traction control is a must, and, I'm told budget for rear tires same as you would your 930 heh heh. Helluva car, chock full of stuff, and just all around an awesome experience.

RS6's are actually in 20-30k's now, but still - PASS. Trust me. Amazingly fun car, just not 'for her'.

Original CTS-V - lotta fun to whoop up on, shoddy interior, clickclackety drivetrain (on / off throttle, it was obnoxious), heavy clutch, etc. Neu CTS-4 I rented was worlds better, dare I admit even impressive. I look forward to some neu V time I do.

//S8... well I'm obviously biased. It's a frickin *supreme* automobile. But, '03s as new as you get, $17k currently gets you a 75k car. Prob is, they're not w/o issue. They're bulletproof - once you've sorted them. They ALL leak here there everywhere, and will have drainage issues that need attending to. Ton of car for the dough, but if your budget is $30-40k, I'd look to C5 A6 4.2 instead, or E55.

Again tho, CayenneTT is hard to go wrong with IMO. Fun in a box!

the wife's car

maybe I'm just a lucky guy, but the wife just wants another Mini-Van. what can I say. and, we just traded her's in her 2001 with 100+k miles and stole a new 2009 Grand Caravan SE for $15.5k...

she loves being a passenger in all the cars I've had and currently own (240Z, TR6, GTV2000, MGTD, 951 and 930), but never wanted to drive a stick and didn't understand the need for power and speed. after all, "it's just a car"
