installing muffler
 

So I purchased a Borla muffler for my 930. Keeps the stock look for now, but when I removed the factory muffler from the turbo, the turbo only has 2 studs and then it had 2 bolts....

I guess I have 2 questions.

1. Should the turbo have 4 studs that I would simply put nuts onto, or is this common that it has some studs and some bolts?

2. Any tips and tricks on how to install an aftermarket muffler on the car. Seems like there is NO clearance at all to get tools in there, and barely any to get my skinny hands in there. I am thinking that the rear bumper has to come off, but am looking for options before I go this route.

Take the bumper off...some of the nuts are hard to get to even with the bumper off. I have found that crow's feet are very helpful.

My turbo has 4 studs with nuts...that's what the factory diagrams show too.

Your 930 is an '83 so it should have a separate waste gate muffler.
You will need to take off at least the valance if not the bumper to remove the stock muffler. It is easiest to just remove everything if you have never done this before.
Yes you should have 4 studs and no bolts. The studs like to rust to the nuts and back out when removed which is likely what happened at some time in the past.

You can do it with just removing the valance, I did several times, once without even removing the valance. Use one of the SNAP-ON "C" wrenches on the two upper nuts, if you don't have one, a stubby works, but it much harder on leverage.
