No such thing as 1979 930 Cab, correct?

I came across a 1979 930 Cabriolet for sale. My question is being that since in 1979 they didn't make a Cab and it is obviously a mod that was done to the car, does it hold the value that normal 930 Cab's do and is it not as rigid (safe) as a factory Cab.

BTW, the cars is mint, the cab mod was done very professionally and there were tons of other performance upgrades done. Low miles and the asking price is $18k.

Thanks

18k sounds like a great deal as long as it passes PPI

18k sounds great as long as it passes a full mechanical inspection including leak down and compression check.

Did they make turbo targa in 1979? I wonder if that was what is was converted from.

There was no Turbo Targa's made in 1979 unless it was through Special Wishes.

If it has a 930 serial number if would most likely be a converted coupe.

If it has a 911 serial number it would most likely be a converted 911 targa.

I'd to take a hard look at it. Going from a targa to a cab might be ok (and done by the factory?), but a coupe to a cab....

I don't know if it's structuraly sound or not. Just adding some bracing won't do it.

There were only 930 coupes from Porsche in the pre 1987 production models in everything I have ever read. The easy sure cure and looks neat also is just install a full tube cage, from front to back just like the 930 race track modified coupe to convertible coversions. Looks great and is structually, at least as rigid, as a regular coupe. Of course have the rest of car checked by a competent Porsche tuner Person/shop.
