Can't get front torsion bars out

They are stuck, both of them. Shouldn't they slide pretty easily? I have the a-arms out so I can put my polybronze bushings on and they won't budge. Any ideas?

Also, I have two different a-arms. Someone replaced the pass side and it doesn't match the driver side. The driver side has thick spacers welded to the front mount. Is there a difference between the turbo a-arm and the 911 a-arm?

This one is original I suspect.

Not original:

If those puppies have been in there a long time then it is a good chance a little bit of rust has jammed the t-bars in the housing I had that problem years ago when I replaced my bars, I am not sure about the a arms on the 911 verses the 930, have you checked the PET to see what the part numbers are.

You can use the Pelican parts diagram that is actually a PET.

I see a part number for a left and one for a right. Logic would say that if one side had the extra spacers then the other should too. I'm confused. I bought a spare set to rebuild in the meantime and that set doesn't have the thick spacers on either side. They might not be "turbo" a-arms if there is such a thing.

Here is what I found:

Left http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=911-341-901-01-M100&catalog_description=A-Arm%2C%20Left%20front%2C%20911%20(1974-89)

Right:http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=911-341-902-01-M100&catalog_description=A-Arm%2C%20Right%20front%2C%20911%20(1974-89)

Looks like the same part for everything from 1974 to 1989. Why is my driver side different though???

Found this in PET on the Porsche website:

911 341 901 01 L SC
911 341 901 02 R SC
930 341 901 01 L Turbo
930 341 901 01 R Turbo

****. It looks like I bought SC a-arms to replace what I have.

go to this url

https://techinfo.porsche.com/techinfo/pdf/en/catalogues/E_911_83_KATALOG.pdf

go to Page 155, this the Porsche parts catalogue and it has 2 different part numbers for 911 and 930 this is contrary to the product info page and pelican needs to be made aware of this.

So now the question is can I use the SC a-arms I have? I bought these low friction mounts to go with the polybronze bushings for better alignment of both mounts.

I don't have an answer for that I would say take some measurements and see if they will work. There should be someone that can chime in here and answer this maybe call who you got the bushings from and see if they know.

Yeah, but if I can find someone that has a turbo front mount to match the one I have I'll be happy. Worst case I either fabricate some spacers or use them without. I'd like to make it right though. Thanks for the help with this.

I got the old torsion bars out and they are in great shape thanks to a pointer from group911@aol.co. He told me the other end of the a-arm is just a plug and to drive the t-bar further in until it drives the plug out. Then drive it back the other way.
