Aaron, hate to tell u this buddy, but the only way you will be allowed to participate in this event is if you are driving the '914 turbo carrera' , and u let me have a ride. No excuses to the contrary will be accepted. BTW, Miguel may have already spoken to you, but if your offer still stands, start practicing your spanish now.

This is going to be a blast! I plan on driving back down to Texas after the weekend, not to mention with the time change its going to be fun but I just can't wait!

Justin isn't wayah the road before we got to the base of the dragon that we were on full throttle 99% of the time? The one where we stopped just afterwards and were all laughing our a$$es off talking about when we all had 'oh schnikes' moments?

Aaron, we really want to see that 914 TC on the track/road; but regardless, you'll be welcome even with the Ghia. And YES, the Carrera is a done deal..., just waiting on your confirm to lock it up.

Gabe, when is the machine arriving to Zuff in CLT?

Should be on the truck very soon. I'm waiting on the calipers to come back from powder coat, all the zinc plating is done. As soon as the calipers get back she's getting an appointment with Intercity to take her to get registered in Texas then up to NC.

My guess is you are talking about Route 28 (Hellbender) which ends at the Deals Gap gas station. It would have looked something like this :

Wayah Road is about 45 minutes southeast of Fontana Dam (Dragon Territory).

LEO density is extremely high on Dragon, extremely low on Wayah. However Wayah's reputation is building as the word gets out on Dragon LEO so I expect some attention will eventually shift there but for now .... .7 bar.

Naw that wasn't it, and yeah you're right Justin - we were WOT the whole time

That's the one thing i'm going to love about the track day is that there won't be any damn SUV's to slow us down again

Prials: if it helps any, it was uphill most the way and we were taking the curves at roughly 75-105 (when i had the balls to look down at the speedo) and T's off to a left and right in front of a big lake. We took the left hander to go to the base of the dragon before we ran up it.

LEO / traffic are on my mind. Anyone speculate what 'it' might hold for us for our intended Sunday-in-late-June run?

Depending on logistics, I may try and hit it Fri. a.m. or something right when we arrive, before it gets overly populated in case our Sun endeavor proves to be traffic/law laden. Make it 0.9bar for me heh heh.

The Wayah bit sounds intriguing. Prials (name? grr! 8-)), that pic always makes me *tingle* heh heh.

Miguel: THAT shot _really_ makes me tingle... oooooooooooF!!

Aaron, when you mentioned 914 I immediately was hoping it was the orange turbo I've seen around the boards. Hope to get to see / 'witness' it! Crykies.

Justin, PM'ing you now - 100% in for trip, coin toss for the DE (hence why need a drop-dead date, *when you're able* butofcourse). It's not that there's much worry about 'ole-girl-syndrome, it's more big-picture 'tis all.

BOINGoingOINGoingOINGoingOING (sorry was that out loud?). JoJo the Idiot Circus Boy, I am:

Miguel - now way man. 6 months in the desert and I have more than enough energy to try to keep up with you on the dragon

Keep in mind that last time i'd already driven 3,500 miles in 3 days before our dragon run

Gabe - You are correct. Not going to be doing .7 bar for all of Hellbender unless you want to go agricultural.

Musta been the Cherohala Skyway. .7 bar is very doable there.

The Cherohala Skyway was completed in the fall of 1996 after being under construction for some thirty-four years. It is North Carolina's most expensive highway carrying a pricetag of $100,000,000. Winding up and over 5,400 foot mountains for 15 miles in North Carolina and descending another 21 miles into the deeply forested backcountry of Tennessee. The road crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests thus the name "Chero...hala". The Skyway is becoming well known in motorcycling and sportscar circles for it's long, sweeping corners and scenic views.

Yes...that road is fast sweeper-o-rama. I recall hitting it a few times on my second visit to the dragon aboard the ol' duc. I believe it had only recently opened, so was not very crowded. I wore out my first set of knee pucks on that road...good times. I also recall that me and my buddies took a different back road from the far end of the skyway (Tellico Plains?) to return to the motel (stayed at the base of the dragon) which was flat, mostly straight and completely desolate. Perfect for, ahem, top-speed testing.

Heavy LEO (up to one LEO per mile) and Heavy traffic.

That time of year you've got to do the Dragon at sunrise (see morning mist in pic above ); during LEO shift-change and before the teeming masses sober up.

Justin, that sounds like a cool idea, run the dragon in the early morning! I know on the way back to Asheville it was hard as hell seeing the road through my sap covered windshield with the sun 25 degrees off horizon. That's one of many things that kept me from really gettin' on it.

Just imagine the SOUND of all those unmuffled turbos boosting through the crisp morning air stirring, it would be just like in Gumball when the sounds of the Ferrari and 427 were blasting through empty NYC.

Of course we'd have to head out of Charlotte super early while still dark, but I think that might even add more to the experience. THAT would be one sunrise to never forget.

I'll try to keep this open on my calendar, guys! My birthday is in June, so perhaps this will be my 40th b-day present to myself! Will there be hookers and blow?
