Brake Squeal

1986 930 new Mintex brake pads all around. Problem: Horrible screaching/howling primarily from right front passenger side last foot or so before totally stopped. No noise until almost stopped, barely moving. I tried new "anti squeal" stick on pads on all brakes, did nothing. Car stops on a dime, does not pull, etc. Anybody have any ideas what else to check? It is driving me crazy and is very embarrassing

Try another set of pads.

When you install your new pads, do you chamfer the edges to help prevent?

Regards,

No, I did not. Just angle them a little?

It may be another issue. Chamfer will work probably short term (I bought a set of front brake pads for 87 NA and they are sitting on top of tool box as they still have plenty of pad left and doing the rear a while back has been fine).

Yes you can sand the pad at 45 deg with say an 80 grit, removing only a small amount from the edges. Hope this works and rotors are good. Maybe you have given up on your pads?

Thanks for the reply. I have not given up on the pads, since I have them in the rear also, and they are fine. I am going to try your suggestions, as well as closely examine callipers, etc.
