You answered your question about the turbo, K27-7006 as used on the 964 Turbo S2. The IC may be a B&B or a Garretson.

Great! Now I know where the turbo was used as well, thanks!

Turbo is 7006, intercooler looks like B&B.
Characteristics of 7006 are late boost and hard hit on top end. Optional OEM for 965, Werks, and Special Wishes 930.

Thanks for that so when did B&B first make this intercooler? It looks different then the one I see they sell now and maybe even bigger?

Also, what is the max boost you can hold to redline with the 7006? Thanks!

My IC looks just like that one. It's a garretson. I got it in 86 or 87 if I recall so they've been out a good while.

Just so happens I'm running with the same intercooler and turbo as you. The 7006 does kick in a bit later than a 7200, but does keep a solid punch up almost to readline. But either of the two versions both come on sooner than the stock 3LDZ. The 7200 is probably a better street turbo, but regardless I'm still happy with 7006 (though I sure would like to have a 7200 just for kicks...you know, to swap turbos out everytime I turn around and the whim hits me!!). Yeah, right....

What do I REALLY have?

OK, so you got me wondering if I really have a B&B or a Garretson intercooler. What do the experts think? (uhh.....sorry to hijack this thread, but sometimes you just gotta do what you gotta do).

With regard to the intercoolers - Garrettsons have their tanks on the front and back of the core (not on the left and right like the ones pictured) . . .

My money is on it being a B&B inter-cooler.

K27 Turbo was used on the S2. It is the same compressor wheel as a K27-7200 but with a larger hot side. Dose come in a little later but makes less back pressure in the exhaust for increased effency (VE) and more HP.

Headers migh be B&B also.

MSD ignition and distributor for upper plugs, TEC 1 for lower plugs. Interesting?

Check the cylinders to see if the cooling fins go all around the cylinders. If so it migh be a 3.4.

Nice.

Ill check the cylinders tomorrow now that im curious. I don't have an MSD or a distributor. The TEC controls all 12 plugs.

That intercooler looks just like mine and after doing some research I found a pic that looks a lot like mine! B&B is what I and you have for sure and It also looks like I have the B&B exchangers. My intercooler has the optional black powder coat they offer. How good is the B&B stuff? You almost have my setup. How much did you dyno?

Glad that's settled.

It looks like you have the B&B package like I do: headers, exhaust & intercooler. My headers had some cracks as others have had.

unrelated...

Nice toys you got there... 190SL and some sorta Chebby - '68 Camaro? Then, something 'else' lurks under cover. Spill it 8-).

So, you can't just ring the PO of your car and ask? Sorry had to throw that out there - obviously there's a reason.

Enough teasing us - PICS of your 930 (and other toys)! Much obliged...
