930 - 965 - 964 RSR front bumper & sideskirts

This is a story of developing new set of aero parts for 930 - 965 - 964 RSR wide body including front bumper and side skirts, maybe later the rear bumper as well. The basic shape will be based on my Strosek 911 Turbo (original Strosek MegaWidebody) long front spoiler and side skirts, already tested during the last season (you can watch the following thread if you haven't already):

Strosek 911 RUF finally back and kicking!

Here some photoshop sketches of the goal: it will be short nose version compared to Strosek 911 Turbo version.

Here some pics from the development period of the mould sample units:

Stay tuned .

These parts will fit together with my other project for 930/935 downforce system in the future. You can see the thread here:

Thanks for the support

Yes, of course there is plenty of shaping and ugly sanding done and to do still, but the major work for the basic shapes I've done already with the parts for the 'Green Afterburner' in Strosek 911 RUF Turbo section. This is a kind of fitting solution of those mould males for new female moulds.

Final parts can be done both carbon fiber and fiberglass with prepreg & vacuum systems.I quess for my friends 1100+hp street/racing car (the first pics with regular 930 front lamps) under process they will be carbon, but for my 964 RS they will be glasfiber (easier to fix after track mistakes )

Our team you can see in www.gtracer.fi pages

Our goal is to try to do a distinquished traditional-like solution for 911 body with modern aerodynamics: unfortunately most of the legendary 70ies and 80ies forms were made not too much with respect for the very defined shapes of 911, even if we all love those historical muscular rebel forms as a statement. This development is no way any kind of criticism towards that great history but rather up to date continuation to create solution to use still very competitive 911 solutions with old body. If you only watch carefully the forms of the doors, they do shape in very gentle 3d-combound shapes. 80ies rational angular forms were ruling both racing design (practical, fast, and does its job as a aerodynamical border between airflow outside of the car versus airflow under the car. As well as designwise Testarossa was a design icon of its time to be copied to any car (even if I like Testa Rossa as a piece of an item) and never so succesfully especially with Porsche bodies (major accidents happened with 928s, which I have only 3 in my garage, thank god not with testarossa-like bodies ).
Now when we all know the dilemmas with the 911 body (after 54 years of time to study it) and now when major body aftermarket companies have escaped to work with 996 and 997 models, and you still can get excellent replicas of any historical 911 body, I still want to push out my thoughts (I've been thinking 20 years with my Porsches, but didn't have then option to work it through) to create both for 911 wide body and 928 wide body solutions for racing and club racing purposes under very strict and car form respecting manner. Green Strosek 911 RUF already modified with Vittorio Strosek to modify for real racing gave me some confidensce to go directly to 930 and 928 body. I will publish here the steps of my development process towards the solution of mine.

Petri, love how your mind is working on this. You are a madman... i made a custom front end for my 914/6, then made the mold, then glassed the final part from the mold and it nearly killed me with all the labor involved. Can only imagine all the time involved in this! Props to ya.

The ductape is kindof hokey-pokey, but the front bumper looks great! The body lines are spot on. Can't wait to see what it looks like painted.

Skirts are just hanged with ductape for the fitting purpose, I have a sort of idea that is not to way to mount them or whatever you just were about to say? Side skirts are not a joke, they did work excellent with my green Strosek and that is why we are making the 930 bodyfitting for another set of the moulds. Thanks for the comments, i'm working for finishing the parts...

Other body parts finally got to the production: first project car (a mean biturbo) published in X-treme Cars Show 2011 Helsinki.

This car will be finished and published for the next season as a parallel project to my existing green. Stay tuned .

This bodywork project came to a sort of end, when this finished setup found its way to my car finally. It has been done already a while, but I wanted to finish suspension and performance project in this car before finishing the exterior. Now it is finished.

Some cool laps in Nordschleife proofed it to be a proper track day bodywork, so I continue with my other projects to be finished finally in some point, as doing them like a hobby they do take forever to get done.
