HP Junkies Preliminary Results

From the last thread

HP Junkies Round number 3

The car sounds much better, the power on demand is better than ever, we ran out out fuel and at 2.00am not many gas stations are open on C-16 out from the lift the very first pass with the new set up she made 480rwhp @ 16 psi of boost. by the 4 th pull on LOW boost she made 621.5 rwhp@ 25 pnds of boost @ 5950 rpm !! we plan to go to our normal 32 pnds of boost for the high boost, sometime soon I will post the video.

Between Bello and Billet Design they have done a Great job.

You plan to run 2.2bar of boost, WOW!! How long will an engine last up at that level? The run you did there with a little over 1.7bar is impressive, looks like the power was still on the way up. What do you do to keep everything together at that level of boost, i never thought it was possible for these air cooled motors to live for long like that

Juan, Why did you guys shut it down so early? Things looked like they were on the up and up.
Im goin to spin mine to 7500 so I get max m.p.h out of 1st gear, not to mention my turbo is just waking up a 3700 and likes to pull all the way.

We were playing with the spark plug gap and boost settings then ran out of fuel

How long will an engine last up at that level?

I don't know so far 3 years

i never thought it was possible for these air cooled motors to live for long like that

That's what I thought too I don't know but after 32 pnds from that point on I think we will need another credit card to beef up some departments. but boost wise I will stop at 32-33psi and thats the end.

Hopefully you will see 730-800 rwhp at 32 pds of boost.

What size of turbo are you running? I know you wont say the exact specs, but what is comparable too?

Nice job.

I meant RPM wise- why are you shutting down early instead of maybe 7-7200 rpm

Marco from Billet design was driving the car at the dyno, Bello was the Director Bello wanted to make power at a certain rpm. we know she has some more left on low boost.

My sentiments exactly.

How is the drive-ability with such a power increase within a relatively narrow RPM range. It must be like strapping on an Altas rocket.

Keep it up.

The torque is what they are after, as that is what makes the drive-ability good and haul butt. Nice Juan and Eddie!

Mr. Alternator decided to retire after 21 years of operation according to the DTA data log the voltage was dropping a lot making the car to break up under boost and heavy acceleration, we managed to make a few "on the street" passes and the car has never been this fast, on second gear will roast the tires and will get side ways, that is with Michelin tires, I'm sure with the DOT tires it will hook, we set the low boost at 20 pnds, this week we will hire a new Mr. Alternator and back to the test bed.

Transmission is the factory G50 just with a custom spool and a billet side cover.
