New tires for RUF 9" and 10" ??

Can anyone suggest the correct size tires I need for my Ruf 9" and 10" wheels. The car came with 225 in the front and 255 in the rear. I believe that I can go up a few sizes. Also, what kind of tires do you all like? I would like something very sticky. I only put about 3K miles a year on the 930 and I would like to DE the car once a year. Any suggestions? Thanks Tate

235/40 17 front
255/40 17 rear

Best tyres, Toyo R888. Dont know if you can get those in the US though.

You can run 255/40 and 275/40 tires on 9s and 10s.

Sorry, They are 17" wheels. I was hoping that I could use 255/40 in front and 275/40 in rear. Thanks 125shifter. Any suggestions on tires?

I'd probably go with Michelin PS2's. I put them on my wife's car and they stick really well although we haven't tracked it.

I've heard good things about Toyo's but I have tried them. They're not as easy to find though.

It sucks that there aren't as many 17" tires available. I just don't get the whole super low profile craze.

Please look into the Dunlop Star Spec Z1. They are a very good multi use tire. I have taken them to the track and had DOT R guys have to let me pass. They warm up fast so they are great on the street. And they have just the right amount of tread pattern that they tested will in the wet. Plus, they are priced very, very well. Go the TireRack.com and check out the tire and look at there Tests, and comments sections to see how they stand up to other street/track tires. I also like the Z1's as if you run a bunch of neg camber you can have the tires fliped on the rims for more life.

If interested in the Pilot Sport Cups, TireRack.com has them on close out.

Plus, the Z1's just look good (225's below).

Hey Lincoln, Don't think I didn't notice your custom made 11" rear Ruf's at Turbopalooza. The 315's fit very well under those fenders. You have one fantastic car. tate

275/40 rear and 225/45 front are absolute minimums.

This is the right combo for the Ruf classic 8' & 10's fit to a 930

285/40/17 Rear
235/45/17 Front

Check out the Kumho...below from Tire Rack

Kumho Ecsta XS
(Extreme Performance Summer)
Overview | Specs | Warranty | Reviews | Test Results
Sidewall: Blackwall
Rear: 285/40R17
Serv. Desc: 100W Load Index 100 = 1764lbs (800kg) per tire
Speed Rating “W” = 168mph (270kph)

UTQG: Treadwear: 180
Traction: AA
Temperature: A180 AA A
Price: $175.00 (each)
Estimated Availability: In Stock
Optional Road Hazard Program: additional $21.00 per tire

Front: 235/45R17
Serv. Desc: 94W Load Index 94 = 1477lbs (670kg) per tire
Speed Rating “W” = 168mph (270kph)

UTQG: Treadwear: 180
Traction: AA
Temperature: A180 AA A
Price: $132.00 (each)

Estimated Availability: In Stock

Kumho also offers an SPT tire in the same sizes; it is a little less aggressive (soft) and carries a UTQG treadwear rating of 320 !!! vs 180 for the Ecsta XS.
