The 180 mph was only in 1976. If a 1979 930 has a 160 mph speedo it was changed after 1983 because that is the year that Porsche came out with the 160 speedo. The 160 speedo has KM on the inside and mph on the outside. The euro cars will has only Kilometers.....

1976=180mph speedo
1977=150mph
1978=150mph
1979=150mph and around mid year change to 85 mph
1983-1989 160 mph (this speedometer is also known as a dual scale speedometer with KM on the inside of the mph.)

The above info is a fact not an opinion.

Congratulations on your purchase.
Does the front of the car have the rubber lip/spoiler like the 930 does?

See it below the number plate and the fogs?

There should be a switch in the light and there is also a pin switch for when the glovebox is open.

How many brackets does the chassis have in the engine compartment to hold the struts that are fitted to the engine cover? In other words, can you fit two struts?

What colour are the shock absorbers? What colour are the front struts? Did it come with 16" Fuchs?

The 15" wheels and the engine cover being FG is enough I would think to confirm it's not a genuine 'sport'. I take it the non-spoiler cover is metal?

As for your light, make sure the pin switch is not being held back from shutting off the light by the wire being caught on something.

Have a look & take pics of the shocks on the rear and the struts on the front though.
