broke my A/c temp switch .........
Hi
can I replace the A/C temp switch without opening the A/c system and needing a vacuum? Thankshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1246901599.jpg |
If you are talking about the unbroken line that runs from the evaporator in the smugglers box to the inside of the center console, it senses the temp in or around the evaporator & is not part of the R-134 or R12 sealed system.
It is a sealed temp sensing system of its own. I am no expert but this is what I need to fix as well, but because my AC doesn't get too cold anyway, the switch doesn't serve a purpose. |
you are right I did not folow the line well . the part I need to change does not require to open the system.

Yes, I replaced mine last week.
911-613-121-01-M145 A/C Temperature Switch, 911/911 Turbo 1974-89 ($47.25) It's not difficult but the replacement switch from pelican is a little bigger in the longer dimension and a very tight fit. I cut the bottom part of the plastic box piece it installs in off so it fits. Also makes installing it and reinstalling the fan switch alot easier and you can't see the cut out section when it's all back in the console because it's on the bottom. Pry out the multi-hole rubber grommet the capillary tube and wire harness goes through in the bulkhead under the dash and it's really easy to feed the tube through the small hole in the uninstalled grommet and then insert it through the one inch hole where the grommet was. From under the dash you can see through the hole and that helps when the evporator box, air duct hose, brake lines, and steering column are all obstructions to aiming it just right when you're doing the install by yourself. After the capillary tube is inserted back into the evaporator core carefully reinstall the rubber grommet with the wires and capillary tube going through it back into the 1" hole. AC works again now. |
You guys have AC?
