Thanks Miguel :) you were right, just a little bit of respect goes a long way with her...I look forward to an eternity behind the wheel.

Brad, she weighs in at 2548 ant 49.8% cross balance. But in the future she's going to be a bit lighter :)

John, thanks for the kind words man.

Steve: Nail on the head brother - nothing about this was cheap or easy, and we're just at the tip of the iceberg in the development stage, stay tuned cuz she's about to go mental :).

How is it possible to look that bored witnessing at that spectacle?

Wow, keep that beast pointed in a straight line when you hit the gas!

Amazing write up!

Congratulations, glad to see it on the road!!!

It wasn't in my original plans, but after spending so much money on my engine, Motec was an easy choice. I think you'll be very happy. Which box are you using?

Hey JohnJL, that guy is not bored at all, he (Keith) is the brain behind the machine... just enjoying it.

'Explosive' is definately the correct adjective when used to describe Blackie. I dont think i have heard a flat-6, (turbo, MFI, Slide-throttle, High-butterfly or otherwise), that has the ungodly F1 snarl that this car does when the loud pedal is kicked. Even with the 3.8 dialed back and poorly tuned, she was incredible to drive. On just my short run to the local quick mart and back, she was obviously powerful, but i could see that once the EMS is sorted, she is going to be one of those cars that you will just keep enjoying more and more as you learn how to drive her. There is so much power on tap, that the 917/10,30 style of driving that Mark Donohue developed, with hard braking and powerslides out of corners, is readily achievable. Thanks Gabe, I feel privledged to have been allowed to turn a wheel on her, and i wouldn't mind a lap or two once the Motec goes in!

on the edge there be dragons

"Not a monster, not a beast ..." What a load of crap :-) That to me is a beast in all its fear striking raw and unpolished beauty.

Having never seen the car say met any of you guys I hope you get what I am trying to say. All covered in bad English.

Having followed the build almost from the beginning... This is just so much beyond what you would ever find "with those euro tuners..." :-)

If you plan on going to the Ring, do it soon. 'cause I'll be moving your way in a year or so H... no, do I want to miss this just a days drive from Denmark. Seriously, if you ever decide to go to Europe get in touch and I'll be more than glad to help you out.

Very well written and what a fantastic piece of machinery.

When you were out there on the edge did you see any dragons?

Jesper

Justin: Bro - just in that little stint to the beer store you showed me so much of what she's capable of, and helped me shirk off a few fears I had. Being a passenger in her with nothing to think about other than the sheer terror felt from acceleration was sobering - it was a pleasure to have someone as talented as you to give her some stick, from how she reacted I think she likes you :) You and Aaron both taught me that she likes it best when you're rough with her.

And you're 110% correct on the Donohue style of driving...its all I could think about on the dragon run, you have to carry speed in, tip-toe on the throttle to hold revs and not provoke more boost in the corners, then as soon as that yellow line is at 12 o'clock - unleash the dogs of war...

You, Aaron and Keith are true honorary Blackbird Pilots for life :)

Pete, it was excellent meeting you as well. Sorry I was a bit spaced out - the lack of sleep, being pulled over by the cops etc. and that clutch definately had my nerves and everything else all wacked out. I look forward to the next gathering and hopefully a chance to run along side you in your 930 or Fcar :)

Jesper: hahaha, thanks buddy - you really get how i feel about her. In person she's soooo much different and the pics just don't translate just exactly how nuts she really is. She looks brutal in pics, but there's something that doesn't get captured...perhaps its her wicked soul :) I'll post up before Justin and I run the 'ring :) but i have to get the motor tuned first.

Great prose Gabe, fun read.

The sights and sounds of that thing 'in context' (on road vs. in a lot or in pics) were spectacles to behold. I thoroughly enjoyed our Sun. a.m. run to and through the mountains together. Gazing upon it's menace in my mirror, lost spellbound in transfixed ponderance following it, and schoolgirl giggle upon trading blow-by's... it was all a hoot and a half.

Paparazzi swooping upon us during gas station runs was hilarious, and watching poor old innocent Sunday drivers veer out of its way (esp. when you declutched and gunned it behind them when they didn't peel off) was rich. And seeing the throngs of pedestrians we kept passing drop jaw in outright bewilderment was entertaining - first they'd crane their necks at the sight of 6 spitsputteringpopping 930s wail past... then... then the 7th comes by and the heads tilt and the socks are knocked off. The crowd @ the Dragon Terminus was fun to watch, they had no idea WTF to make of us and it. Awesome.

The whirl up the road you took me on was awe inspiring - how TF 345s can be so utterly defenseless to the street-bike rev and throttle response as they are reduced to molten goo is mind numbing. And the sound in roasting such was like igniting a coupla atom bombs - the shrill broke the humble area silence and violently ripped through the innocent atmosphere. CHAOS. You could nearly see the sound wave emitting from such I think.

Anywho, looking forward to Phase II, K3, and further debauchery reports. You need to post up some roadside WOT blastoffs and blowbys, those need to be experienced here for those who couldn't in the flesh. And you're right - I was surprised by how much different the car looks in person - weird:
