Co%

To fellow 930 enthusiasts,

I have a stock 89 930 USA version. My car underwent an emission test and the CO measured 1.25% at idling(950rpm). Our emission regulations here in the Philippines allows until 4.5% for cars made in 1989. My question is whats the normal CO% ( specs given by the factory) range for my 930. Is 1.25% to lean ?

Thanks in advance,

TDH888

Good question. I presume you have your oxygen sensor hooked up and working? It seems to me that most vehicles (modern anyway) run even lower idle CO emissions than that. If someone doesn't beat me to it, I'll see if the information is posted in my manual somewhere.
Get rid of your O2 sensor and set the CO somewhere between 2.5 and 3.0. That's about where I run mine and I think quite a few others do the same. Listen to how she sounds and runs for optimum. You have a lot of room for adjustment in the Phillipines.

3% at idle is where you want to be. Check when on boost to make sure you aren't leaning out. That's where it's important. IF your CI 'SYSTEM' is working correctly then it 'SHOULD' adjust for you automatically as the RPM rise.

Mark,

Is it imperative to disconnect the O2 sensor so that the car can be used w/ 2.5-3% CO or can i adjust my CO from 1.25 to 2.5-3% w/ the O2 sensor in place and not encounter any drivability problem?

Dear Torresmd,

Is your O2 sensor still connected when your CO is set at 3%

Set to 3% with the sensor disconnected. When re-connected, it will lean the mixture out for emissions reasons, but primarily at idle conditions only.
