Anyone know where to get a....
Kokeln intercooler shroud for a 930 intercooler?
i've been looking around and i cannot seem to find one yet have been told by multiple people they they exsist and infact were sold with the intercooler kits. Kokeln doesn't list in anywhere on the site nor have i been able to find any pictures of it... vapor-ware? make my own? i've been thinking that some ducting sealing off the IC would do a lot for lower speed cooling, even create a little suction through the IC core at idle. along with this, some ducting to my intake filter to ensure a steady supply of cool air and shielded from radient engine heat. Yay? Nay? anyone does anything like this? Pics? Suggestions? is there a specific reason why nobody seems to do this in the Porsche world?? coming from the racing world and even a basic understanding of air flow principals, "undirected air is wasted air!" |
Try Vision Motorsports as they sell the Kokeln Intercooler... maybe they can get you a shroud only...
949.770.2106 I think it is... There also was someone in here that recently made his own. Looked pretty darn good. |

That was me - thanks for the compliment !!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-930-turbo-super-charging-forum/487696-intercooler-shroud-home-brew.html |
I made one by cutting up a thin aluminum sheet and painting it black and just screwing it under my tail. It is tricky but not difficult.
|
ditto, I made mine from sheet aluminum in an afternoon...made a huge improvement on efficiency.

anyone mount a little 6" Spal fan under the cooler to help fight off heat soak at idle and low speed? Maybe trigger it with the brake lights so slowing down or being stopped at red lights will cause the fan to come on and draw cool outside air thru it and into the engine compartment (which couldn't hurt either).
|
Some people have done that.
I like your idea of hooking it up to the brake lights ..with a relay of course. I have a 4 channel amp for the stereo, and 4 fans and compressor clutch that come on with the AC so the alternator would probably explode if i hooked up another fan. |
yeah, thats one downfall to adding a bunch of electrical items to older cars. What AMP alternator do our cars have? I would bet no more than 75
|
I think it's 90 amps for the 86-89 cars.

cool, better than i thought
