What AFR guage to use
I am looking for a permanent guage to monitor AFR's but I also want to be able to log AFR's with RPM's. What are you using and why. looking at the LC-1 but want some real world advice. Also, not looking to spend $4-700.00.
thanks, Ben |
Ben,
I run a LM1 and LMA2 in my 930 at all times, I monitor and log AFRs, Boost, Vac, RPM, System Press, and Control Press. I have a Dyno Tune digital readout on the dash and am very pleased with the system. I bought all of the hardware either on the board or EvilBay. My total cost is just over $300.00 Innovate has been pushing the new LM-2 and the used LM-1's can be found very reasonably and most include the associated cables needed. All the software can be downloaded from their site and the support has been first rate. Cole |
I run with an LC-1 and G3 analog gauge, so it's limited to mapping primarily just AFRs. Honestly, I have yet to hook up my laptop to it because of serial cable differences. Overall as an on-board AFR monitor, I'm please with it.

+1 on the lm-1

Cole, What sensors are you using to monitor system and control pressures and how did you tap them in to the plumbing. Jim in B'ham |
I use the LC-1 with the XD-16 gauge. The LC-1 ties nicely into nearly any ECU as well. Inexpensive and great quality.

Jim,
Boost and Vac are done with a GM 3 bar MAP it requires a 5vdc power supply which I built with $6.00 of Radio Shack parts then ties into the LMA-2, easily plumed into manifold with vacuum hose. The pressure transducers for control and system pressure are MEAS and I got off Evil Bay used. They are 12vdc in and 5vdc out and again wire directly into the LMA-2. They have 1/8 male fittings on them and are easily plumbed into the fuel lines with a T. After I got them I looked on line www.meas-spec.com and got spec sheets for them. Cole |
Innovate LC-1 with a DB gauge. It has been spot on when compared to the data from my dyno runs.
