Suspension installation advice

OK I have decided to lower my car myself. I enjoy working on my car although my mechanical knowledge and experience is very little. I bought several books including the Bently service manual. I think I finally understand how to reset the rear torsion bars. I have also decided to upgrade the suspension while I am at it. Here is what I have bought:

Hollow Torsion Bars 23 front 28 rear
Sport shocks front and rear
Tarret sway bars front and rear
Elephant rubber bushing kit for control arms
Neatrix rear spring plate bushing kit

So I have a few questions:

1. Is their anything else I should consider replacing or upgrading while I am at it. I only want to get an alignment and corner balance once. Also forgot to mention that this is going to be primarily a street car with occassional track use.

2. When I start the job, should the car be level on all four jack stands or can I do the front first then the rear next. Seems like from my reading, the car should be level.

3. Does anyone have a diagram or recommend the jack stand points since my usual spots are where I will be working.

Thanks guys!
Steve

To make ride height and corner weighting easier, I would think about adjustable spring plates as well.

I would do one end at a time although there's probably no reason you couldn't do it all at once. Helps to keep parts and thoughts organized.

A level suface works best and that's for all four wheels. You may need to shim up one or more tire pads to get accurate readings. You'll also need to settle the suspension and roll the car off and on you pads.

For jack points, I would use the torsion tube in the rear and in the front... I can't remember. Maybe the the jack points just behind the front wheels.

+1000 on the adj spring plates

I just helped a friend do a similar suspension refresh, would have made fine tuning a snap. He says he wished he got them every time we bring up his car...

I only know of the Sway-A-Away sold here. Not sure if the Elephant Racing gizmo does the same, but it's a lot more money.

What is your goal or use with the upgrade.

Double check your torsion bar combination it seems like unorthodox.

It is perishingly stiff front and very much on the soft side for a 930 rear upgrade.

Something like 22/30 might make more sense for a 930.

21/28 would just be a little stiffer. 23/31 or 23/33 would be full race.

Yes the 28 rear bar is lite for a 930....
Elephant racing has a nicer sway away adjustable spring plate than the typical weltmeister unit. It is more safe in that the adjustment nut cannot slip or bend as with the welty unit.

Thanks for the advice. I realize now that I have the wrong combo of torsion bars. I think I will have to send the ones I have back and get 22/30's. What a bummer! Delays my start date but I guess it is better to make the change now rather than later.
