3.6 heads w/ ceramic insert
Anyone have a solution to the ceramic inserts breaking in 964 heads. I am building a turbo 3.6 engine and some of my heads have broken inserts. Obviously, a turbo is toast if this stuff gets ingested. Any ideas/solutions? I am wondering if I should just stick to my 3.3 engine.

I would just take the inserts/ coating out and then port them out- keeps the risk down. I know if the ceramic is in good condition it is good for performance, but many 911s have big power with no ceramic coating and do fine.

Any idea how long they last without the coating, especially in Turbo application. I've heard that you need to rebuild heads every 20k miles without the coating. I have the same dilemma. Jerz |

What about port size? I will be huge with out the ceramic.

How huge is huge and what size primaries are you running on your headers? I know that it is hard to replicate the ceramics as the were from the factory and I would only trust them from the factory. There are some companys that do it, but it is risky for the poor turbo...

Problem is it looks like some of the ceramic has broken off on a few of the heads.
