8s and 8s Fuchs

How do you think 911 8s on the rear and 951 8s on the front will be on my '83 930? I would think they will look okay - should look pretty stock I would think?? How will they drive??

Thanks

Paul

the eights on the rear are going to look rather anemic....almost defeats the purpose of having a big butt 930!

your 78 has 8's unless you changed them out for 9's. all 930's came with 7's and 8's until the late 80's. then they switched to 7's and 9's. I run 225's and 245's on 7's and 8's. and they work. I think you'll look fine with 8's and 8's and if you run 225's and 245's.

Thanks Gents...any other thoughts about handling.....still going to be looking for 9s but wondering about the short term with 8s and 8s

Why not move the 930 8's to the front and get a set of 9's to the rear. Kumho makes a 225/245/ and 265 tire for 16's.

Panasport makes a three pice race wheel that looks like a minilite race wheel that could be fun to fit to the back. With the 8's in the front could run 245/50's. On the rear could run 275 or 315's if one wanted.

Here is the link.

i thought 930 8s don't fit the front thats why 930 9s and 951 8s were the sought after combo...and
i will check out your link

I like this idea! If I had any Photoshop skills I'd try to mock it up but I bet it would look good. I have not ever seen anyone run that setup on a 930.

Not an expert on it but the normal 911's covet the 944 Fuchs for the front for the brake clearance and to get 8's up front to run 225's. I believe on the 930 the 8's can be moved up front but you need to double check. I believe there are factory spacers on the front and rear that can be changed if needed. To my eye the 930's wheels are tucked in a fair amount so 8's w 225's might work w some neg camber and fender rolling. Pretty sure others have done so.

I would be more interested in adding 9's to the rear than 8's to the front as 930's are more rear traction challenged. That is what the factory did. one can put 225's on the 7's and 265's on the rear thought 245's are the standard.

Texas, on my next 930 I might try to move the 9's to the front and get a set of Panasports for the rear. I think some of the IROC's along with the 914GT race cars ran Minilites in the rear so it is in keeping with tradition.

One could also move there rears to the front and have there 7's modified I thing to 17's of any width but it might require a 6 to do so.

Here is another company that makes a 17" two pice minilite style wheel in most widths (9" front & 11" rear?) for very reasonable prices. About $1300 for 4 compaired to about $2.5k for the Panasports.
