965 rotor thickness?

Planning my winter projects and want to repaint the calipers and replace the pads and rotors until....I saw the price for the rear rotors! So, anyone have the minimum thickness specs for 91 turbo rotors? Nothing wrong with a little shave job at these prices. Thanks

Steve, correction.
Minimum thickness after machining is 30.6 front, 26.6 rear.
Wear limit is 30.0 front, 26.0 rear.
I have new front rotors (part of a Big Red upgrade). My rear rotors measured 32 mm with some light grooving.
Good news as like you mentioned, new rears ain't cheap.

Don't know about 965 rotors but 930 rotors have the minimum thickness dimension stamped into the outer edge.

What do the rotors cost these days? They used to be $250 a piece back when i had my C2t track car. That thing would eat up rotors. Check the bridge on the calipers for cracks. If you don't track it, they are probably OK. In the end, it was less expensive to go with big reds and 993TT rotors. That is, if you go thru lots of rotors on the track.

The cheapest I have found so far is around $300 each but your post is exactly where I was headed. Wondering if there was an acceptable alternative for the rears like 993 rears with their cheaper rotors?

I don't now about the rears. Really the rears on my car lasted twice as long as the fronts so for every 2 front replacments, I had to replace the rears once. If this is a mostly street driven car, I wouldn't bother changing to big reds. It looks like our sponsor has them for less than the $300 a piece. One reason the price on these is so high is there is no aftermarket alternative. At least that used to be the situation. The last time I bought the rotors from an aftermarket parts source, the rotors I received were OEM Porsche rotors in Porsche packaging with Porsche part numbers. These were parts supplied by WorldPac.

Another way to improve the braking on those cars is to get more rear brake bias. The rears don;t really do enough braking on the C2T. The guys that race these remove the bias valve near the booster pump. I did it on mine and it improved braking tremendously and I got extended rotor life on the front. You will not get any lock-up of the rear brakes b/c you have ABS.
