what u think of this'76 930????

http://raycoeuro.com//images/vehimages/00789519692240.jpg

no intercooler,3.0 engine, turbo

negotiated with dealer for less than advertised price delivered to me but worried about 3.0 liter engine not able to handle upgrades to increase HP?
Any advice? Should I keep
looking for a 3.3liter? Id like "reliable" 400 to 450 hp upgrades

website:
raycoeuro.com

Well you certainly stumbled across a looker! I'm not really a fan of earth-tone colors but the paint looks fantastic and is really set off by the wheels.

I have heard others on this board say that the 3.0 liter takes well to mods and is more responsive than the later 3.3s. Not much on that car looks stock, any info about the engine?

I live in that area and have looked at the car when it came in. I believe they were doing motor work on the car getting it ready for sale. If you would need someone to look at it let me know.....its about 45 min from the house.

Cristine's up- grades should give her 400RWHP, she does have a inter-cooler. Factory 3.0 put 485 HP in the 934 Turbo RSRs.

VERY cool. Never seen Mini-lites on a 930 before.

You will probably be able to get close to 400 with IC and upgraded turbo and .8 bar spring. Depends on the engine mileage

After that, maybe some more with a Euro fuel head, other goodies.

From what i understand, while the 3.0 heads dont flow great, the engines are pretty robust.

Actually 3.0 head are better they have a larger port size,32mm-36mm, 3.3 32mm-34mm. Just my 2 cents.

I have a 3.0 litre which is great fun but the 3.3 offers superior brakes and more hp/compression out of the box.

The 3.0 litre pictured here has non-stock bodywork and looks exactly like a 3.3 anyway, so you can't be buying the car for the 'look' of the 3.0 litre.

The 3.0 litre is special because it has the short stroke crankshaft for high rpm and rapid spin, and the car tends to weigh significantly less. Also the weight balance is superior because the clutch is shorter. This keeps the engine forward.

But unless you have a particular hunger for what makes a 3.0 litre special, you may prefer the 3.3 as a logical launching point for a little more horsepower and superior brakes. You can lighten the car so the weight difference is a moot point.

I will say that this brown car which looks great already has fiberglass bumpers which significantly lightens the car. That car is easily 200 lighter than a stock 3.3 the way it sits now.

It is likely that you have no 5 mph bumper shocks anymore. You can check that by looking. Some people don't like to run without the shocks for extra safety, I run without them for saved weight.

76 Turbos are lighter and have the motor foreword in the chassis 62.5mm. 76's are getting harder to find.Looks like a nice car,I had those bumper on Cristine for awhile. paint her wheels black and she'd look bad ass, oh and install a zork pipe. How much is the asking price ?

The wheels are 3 pice race-only wheels made by Panasport and it looks like a euro car. Has a 3.3 tail.

Although I'm partial to the existing wheels, as Che said, they would look killer blacked out.

76ers

If its not too personal, I'd be curious to hear the asking price. Since they're not mentioned too often, I wanted to share a pic of my 76. Except for the wheels it pretty much unmolested, I even have the microphone that came with it! At 33 years, it has some bumps and bruises...right now there are 34K miles on the OD. BTW it is number 368.
