I have not seen it in a few years but last time I saw it it was truely stunning. With all the money the owner spent on the Ruf conversion in '87, you would think they would have used Porsche OEM boxed rockers and rear brake vents. If you thought this was a OEM slantnose delete car, it is not. I think it is a beautiful car judging from the photos, but I question its pedigree and high price(if the asking price is 70K).

Looks like a nice car, the wiki link mentions the BTR stage 3, it's got Motronic control and power was up to 408bhp http://wikicars.org/en/RUF_BTR_-_1983-1993 so i would be dubious about larger power claims

I would want to see a full build sheet for the conversion if paying top money! Although if it can be had for reasonable money i wouldn't worry much other than a leakdown test and a decent inspection! It's got some great parts, Ruf 5 speed box, nice intercooler, 3.4ltr engine, EFI etc... And you have to admit that it looks lovely!!

so this is not a factory ruf (ruf vin) but conidered an authorized conversion by ruf.....not just a 930 with ruf parts/components added? if this is an official ruf conversion, should they have used porsche boxed rockers/brake vents or were these ruf specific components?

wish i could see the car.

Ruf experts correct me if I'm wrong, but Ruf conversions were only done by Ruf dealerships/technicians. I looks like a Ruf conversion, instrumentation, drivetrain. If I were buting the car, I would want the bill-of-materials that Ruf always provides with their conversions. The only body part Ruf offered, that I'm aware of, is the front air dam/valance that included a front oil cooler. Ruf did not offer slant or slant-delete modifications, but took Porsche bodied cars with those modifications and modified them with their drivetrain and interior mods. The previous owner probably added the body modifications at another time.

There are pics of some Ruf receipts, so i would assume it will be a proper Ruf conversion, regardless of the other body mods.
The thing that stands out the most to me are the power claims, it's clearly still on CIS so why are they claiming the same output as a CTR, which as we all know was twin turbo with the 3.2 manifold, and Motronic EFI?
If the Ruf receipts are showing the claimed 475bhp then they must be forged! My bet is that the seller made a typo and it's actually going to show 375bhp which all normal BTR's were

I do not remember what other upgades that were done, by others, as the records went with the car , but it could be a bargin with a reasonably fresh motor/trans and the SN & body mods. I have no affiliation with Wind City Motors or the seller if on consignment, just think it is worth a look as it was really nice and I know the owner was a real car guy.

I think this is a Rennlisters car.

Anyone know this car? - Rennlist Discussion Forums

This might clear up some of the HP issues:

I think I know where the confussion is coming from. The car was done at Scottsdale Motorsports, an Authorized Ruf dealer at the time. They offered their own stage III kit for the BTR conversions done there. Because they were a Ruf shop and this was all done at the same time, I listed it the way I did. Everything was billed on the same invoice on Ruf letterhead.

I think that the RUF really shows where the market is right now. it's a very desirable car in very good condition. I don't think the old 70K price was anything but a "if some is willing to pay I'm willing to sell".

My question is ...

Do you think that is a depressed price or just not far from 1 year ago?

That was interesting, i've never watched a bid end, it was flashing $50,500 over and over as the bid got into the final seconds, it went from 44 bids up to 51 in the last 10 seconds, and then settled at $45,600. Does that mean the highest bidder had his max set at $50,500? The winning bidder has bought quite a few cars lately, probably a dealer. Is that a good price in the US, i'm not up on prices over there, twas a lovely car

Did'nt see the final seconds but now you have me wondering if the final bidder max is displayed in the final moments. I'll have to ask some Ebay'er pro's that I work with.

I'm in the market looking, so I would have liked to see a lower selling price. I've been watching real selling prices for awhile, it sold right where I thought it would ....mid 40's

A special car it got a premium price. Why we see a "norm" modified car that is properly maintained of the same era with the seller expecting the same money.

That's the question

Maybe the seller just wiped zerobidders out? I would do just that in the final moments.

He must have had a max bid registered with an ebay sniper like www.auctionraptor.com I guess, I don't much like using Ebay, not sure why. If i used it more i would use a sniper though
