I'm one of those guys.

I recently took my (wife's) 1979 930 in for a complete make over after one head stud broke. If I add the cost of the car to the cost of the work, including the additional 100 horses we are getting, I could have bought a 996TT or a 997 and still have money left in my pocket.

What's the fun in that ?!! Those new cars don't provide the same smiles per miles you get from a 930 ....

This was arguably the most fun car in the twisties I ever owned.
You don't buy these cars you build them. All the cars on this board are the things of dreams. Dealing with aging components and costly parts is just part of the bonding process and makes them all that much more unique.
