Antique Tag

Did it with my 356 last summer. In Texas you pay in 4 years what you would in 1 for annual tax. Don't have to have any inspection either.

So while the 930 is tagged yearly I can get antique tags for it and not worry about virtually anything. Not supposed to use as a daily driver etc. I guess my question is would an antique tag make it look to ghey?

Answer: no... I think it would look cool. I plan on doing the same thing, if for only removing the hassle of inspections.

Beating cars with an antique tag is great, plus not having inspections as mentioned.

I would rather have antique tags on my old cars..as it means no more inspections, but i think they are unique. if/when i find my 930 i would also have one.

What's wrong with an antique tag? If you can live with any restrictions on use imposed by your DMV, it just means you pay less registration.

I've never seen an antique tag on a 930. In a town of 20,000 I have the only 930. 2 other guys had a couple back in the day but moved on. Not having a tag is even better as my Ruf style front bumper doesn't look right with one.

These are availale in WI. Can't remember the price but think it was $175 for the first and much less for the subsequent ones and they do not need reneuwal or testing. Also 2 great road race courses with events almost every week nearby. One of the few good reasons to live here.

Really hard to beat 52 once every 4 years. They do have collector/classic here but everone I've talked to says don't worry about it the cops are pretty cool about waving you on with the antique anyway.

I'm eligible in two more years but the GA antique tags aren't much to look at.

We do get the option of running a GA tag from the year of the manufacture, I may go that route but I have some concerns about getting pulled over for it. An '87 plate would be white with green numbers.

What does the TX antique tag look like?

Thumbs up

Just like Tony (Voitureltd) said in Wisconsin, we have Collector car license plates here in Minnesota. All you have to do is have one regularly registered vehicle to be eligible. You buy the collector plate with a one time fee (around $100) and you're good to go as long as you own the car. It's one of the ONLY good deals you get as a state resident.

I still have my Minnesota Collector tags on my 66 Mustang. Even though I moved out of MN in 2001.....
