He seems busy this week so we agreed on a PPI possibly next week. It would help if you checked the car already at the weekend.

I need a car for nurburgring trip next spring.

Ppi

Willtell, that is a 3.2 non turbo not even close to a 930 with slant kit.

As far as PPI. About 15 miles north on manhattan there is a place called Mtech Motorsports. As for Mike. He is the owner and use to be the Head tech when it was PAR porsche. About two years ago, Paul the owner of PAR porsche closed down after 20 + years and Mike who was the Head tech at the time brought the shop, not the showroom, and renamed it MTech. the address is 210 Main street in New Rochelle, NY. 914-355-2500.

Oops. Well at least that makes me feel better about the price.

Yes

I think with all the work that was put into that car, the price is a little to good to be true. I am friends with my Mechanic and I'll tell you, at his cost for parts and paying very reasonable labor the job for a rebuild was easy $10,000 with machine work.

I've been pricing a nice full paint job, and if I strip the car myself it will cost around $6500 to $7000 dollars.

So all that said, the car is a steal.

Good luck.

Rob

per the e-bay add

THIS PORSCHE IS A 1984 PORSCHE WIDE-BODY TURBO WITH A FACTORY SLANT NOSE KIT
VIN # WPOZZZ93ZES000369

does this mean it IS a special wishes car or it has a slant conversion with Porsche OEM parts installed after the fact?

So you went and looked at it? Did you see it run? Any other comments besides sloppy paint?

Jacob, did you check it out? I'd like to know if the paint is really bad before I decide to take it to a PPI.

I didn't go see the car this weekend. Weather was crap, and I spent my time putting my engine back together. I am willing to go have a look for you though. I will need to check with the seller to find a mutually convenient time.

Ok, good to know. I'm not in a hurry but dunno about the seller, although he seems busy too. That info on the paint was just a bit puzzling but so far it has no real info as it was just one line without no explanation.

EDIT: The seller said all the rubber was left on car during painting. That might explain the 'sloppy paint job' comment.

smurf, it just looks like it was a quick paint job and they didnt take their time to do it correctly. the boxed rockers were left on so there is paint on the rubbers and around the windows same story. it wasnt even taped off well. the headlining is drooping and the two seats are mismatched. it probably a good car for someone who wants a track car.

i had a PPI done on this car. i had a thread on it on FerrariChat.

car had oil pressure and good temps. owner drove it a good 30 minutes on the freeway to get it PPI'd for me.

shop said the car was very slow, and would run, but they suspected a cam was off, and they noted the dizzy was in fully retarded, and the boost was " turned off ", as the turbo was not really doing anything.

shop wanted around $5000 budget to make the car right.

i passed on the car.

James did seem like a fair guy. i also cant use those wild wheels where i live, and i wanted to swap them out with some replicas, and get the car a little cheaper.

i ended up with my 85 targa and my 87 Slopnenose turbo look.

i also called on this car when it was at $29,900. they do not have any of the missing parts, and its sold like it sits. i didnt want the go fast race seats, and i would have to find rear seats, as i would want them in the car as well.

i would trade them my 85 Targa (58,000 original miles, former Pelican owner) if i could get a turbo look coupe like this.

i LOVE the color, and the RUF wheels are a plus. but the missing seats and go fast interior are a bit of a turn off for me. maybe i should call them and see if they would do a trade. that way i would have 2 turbo look slopes, one coupe, one Cab!
