Turbocharging a high mileage 3.6?

Is it even advisable to put on a low pressure (5.5 psi) turbocharger on a 135K miles 3.6 NA engine? Top end is good with new rings. But the bottom end is untouched.

Would this be too much for the engine, esp. with the original bottom end? What other complications (besides brakes+suspension) should I also think of?

5.5/3.7= 1.5

11.3 + 1.5= 12.8 C/R on boost.

This is near the very near of over the edge of what can be done on pump fuel.

An intercooler would help, twin plugs and the factory knock sensing helps.

You can have the piston tops machined to reduce compression to about 8.5/1 or J&E pistons can be had for a bit over $1k.

Getting the turbo pressure connection around the dist is a challenge if you were planning on using 930 exhaust.

Would be a cool project.

The early motors are known for leaking at the heads unless updated without turbo pressure.

SW or Protomotive might be able to do a chip for you. At a minimum you would need a RR-FPR.

IMO, it would be risky with the stock CR but you should check with a real expert.
