Wastegate Rebuild??

Has anyone rebuilt their wastegate??? Is it possible to hurt anything by dissasembling it and cleaning it up???

Is your wastegate malfunctioning? Replacement of the diaphragm is about the extent that the typical DIY'er can "rebuild" one of these. If the valve, valve guide, and valve seat are worn beyond usable limits, you're SOL as these items are NLA from Porsche. A machine shop could fix these, but at that point your cost will meet or exceed the typical aftermarket replacement (most of us go for the TIAL brand).

Use caution if you disassemble yours...the spring is quite strong. Best if done on a bench and/or with a vise in my opinion.

Thanks J, it is functioning well. I dont know if i can get a new unit within my budget right now so i was just hoping i could clean and freshen the original up.
