RarlyL8 Scratch & Dent Muffler

This refurbished muffler body was previously sold but never paid for. History is that a turbo failure caused it to see some extreme heat (hence the color). The muffler was disassembled and repacked. 321 stainless can take some serious heat so no structural issues.
U bend and Tailpipe are new and have not been polished. Assembled muffler weighs 12 pounds and is 3" ID straight through for max power.
Muffler comes with assembly hardware and full warranty.
$200 off regular price = $595 plus shipping.

Muffler is straight-through design for minimum back pressure. Dyno tests show no significant difference when compared to a zork tube (straight-pipe) on a street engine.
Sound is slightly louder than stock at idle and grows from that point as the right foot is applied. When compared to a stock muffler this muffler will significantly decrease boost threshold, increase throttle response and power and allow you to hear those cool turbo noises.

I received my "scratch and dent" muffler over a week ago. The only scratch or dent was in the box it was shipped in....The quality of the muffler and pipe is incredibly top notch and I certainly couldnt tell it was used. This past weekend I finnally had the chance to install the muffler and pipe. I wasn't quite sure about what to expect.... The rumble at idle is only a hint of what was to come. Like many others who have gone this route.... "intoxicating" is an understatement. All of the turbo noises and crackling just add to the experience. I was a bit skeptical about claims of improved throttle response and a lower boost threshold. Boy was I wrong! The car has found new life below 2500 RPM all the way to 6500 rpm and all this with stock K-26. Anyone considering one of Brian's exhaust....do yourself a favor, dont wait any longer. Thanks Brian , its everything you said it would be. Worth it in every aspect.

Steve

i did take some pictures during the install and will post as soon as I can. Something called work keeps getting in the way of the fun stuff..... I'll work on a video too.

Bryan, what I have noticed is that the resonance is very acceptable at the mid range level, not stcok mind you, but certainly not brain rattling either. One of the most noticable noises is turbo spool. Unlike my teenage son's Mustang SLP Loudmouth (flow thru mufflers which I really don't like at all) which resonates thru the seats and into my spine, this is no where even close......

Thanks for the comments Steve, glad you like it.

I'm not sure what is meant by resonance. My mufflers do not have any resonance anywhere that I am aware of. They are a little louder than stock but I have never noticed any sort of resonance on any of the cars I have heard. Maybe this is influenced by some of the other components of the engine like type of turbo or cams or ?? My car has no sound deadening in the engine bay and I feel/hear no resonance, only the good sounds. Gotta love that whistle!

"Louder than stock" is certainly what I meant....there are no additional or unusal vibrations as a result of the new exhaust.

I have the B&B 4.5" dual out on my turbo and there is a lot of resonance in the cabin from 2200-3000. It drives me bat***** crazy.

4.5 looks bad azz but it's way too loud/boomy. Huge difference when I changed from that size tip to 2.5 inch.

Chambered mufflers have potential for resonance. Mine are straight through with nothing for sound waves to bounce back on or reverb.
Thanks for clearing that up, yes a bit louder than stock.

Pictures of the instal.....about a 2 hour job for me. It took me a couple of fits to make sure the tip wasn't up against the bumper.

Gorgeous car Steve!

You can move the tailpipe down and further out by moving the spacer toward the driver's side. Both the tailpipe and the 180 telescope. Play around with the angles and spacer until it fits perfectly for you. There are 2 clamps included; a constant tension clamp that is used with the spacer, and a t-bolt clamp that is used to secure the tailpipe to the 180. In your picture I only see the t-bolt clamp at the tailpipe/180 joint. Using both clamps will also dampen any vibration at the tip of the tailpipe.

Now fire that bad boy up and see how she goes! You're gonna think you got a new car!
