Kodiak wheels?

Anyone running these on a street car? There is a used set of 17x 9 and 11's i'm looking at right now but kodiak website says "racing wheels"

If it's a race wheel only, I would think twice about it, The wheel halves are thinner and can bend easily. Possibly the center as well.

Didn't Kodiak buy Fikse? Have you looked at those?

Isn't Jeff Alton (on this board) their distributor? Try to pm him.

yes, and these resemble Fikse. They are a 3 piece forged wheel and they want $1500 for the set. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what they say

Kodiak only acquired the rights to Fikse within the past few months. Any resemblance between the wheels you're looking at and Fikses is coincidence. From what I've heard of Kodiak, they make excellent quality products. And even though their website claims "race only," do your due diligence if you can and see if that means the wheels truly are made to different standards like Rocket suggests, or if that's just legalese to protect them from any claims stemming from hamfisted road use.

I have raced on Kodiac for 5 years and I can tell you they are strong as hell! I have hit many an apex curb, pieces of other cars and God knows what else and I have never bent one. They are forged wheels. Would not hesitate to drive them on the street.

I run them on the street.

Jeff Alton would know for sure, but I believe the wheel halves are rolled from 6061 aluminum while some others use 5052 aluminum which isn't as strong in the heat treated condition.

yes, they are rolled 6061 made to T6 hardness according to their website. $1500 for the set sounds like a deal

My only caution is when ordering a custom offset review the form very carefully. My friend bought some and the offset got screwed up somehow and he said that he sent the same specs in from my form?? We race the same model car.

6061T6 two stage heat treated rim shells, made in house. Centers machined from forged 6061 as well. The set in question I believe is being sold by Rothsport.

Oh, and that is a good deal, well below cost on a new set and just over half of what a new set would cost you retail.....

Cheers

Jeff, you are correct on the seller. I really want a set of your Fuchs but the budget doesn't allow that right now.

Thanks for your input

I run Kodiaks as well; 9&11.5x17. Fit is perfect on my widebody SC with 930 spacers.

Jeff - the set I have is powder coated black in the center and RSR silverish on the rims. Can I swap/trade those outer rims for a set in polished finish? Cost? Shoot me an email if you would - thanks.

trust me you'll see them on the car as soon as I get my hands on them.

Jeff - i'll take good care of your babies and will keep you in mind if I need anything for them. I have already had bad thoughts about changing barrells on the rear to make them wider.... but must---resist---slope---to---steep...
