I know its a waterpumper...

Just kicking around Ebay and saw this one at LA Salvage... Porsche 911 996TT Twin Turbo Engine Motor 29k Miles 996 : eBay Motors (item 180467724003 end time Feb-19-10 17:02:26 PST)
I sometimes think about how awsome it would be to stick one of these in a lightweight 930. Throw in a set of rods, real turbos, a Haltech, radiators, and cable drive throttle body- bet it would be scary fast.
Anyway, just a pipe dream for now

I too have thought about this... a lot of work I bet to make it all work right, but man what fun would that be? Old school look... with modern tech under the hood.

I mean, its the same layout with water cooling. Not to mention 4 valves per cylinder! Down the road, one could obtain gt-3 heads, good rods, and twin 35r's- imagine 8500 RPM under boost? Also remember- with the added weight of the water cooling, one gets to eliminate the complete oil system that the old school cars came with as it would no longer be necesary.
I may stick one of these into a carrera 4 someday... Looks like it would be fun
